Recent movies you've seen, shows you're watching, weeb stuff, what you can see from your window, etc.
I've been going through Buffy the Vampire Slayer for almost two months now. About to start the final season. I gave the first episode a shot a few years ago but thought the cheese factor was too high, so I ignored it. Decided to try it again and got really into it. There's still cheese, but it's an extremely well done show. Silly at times, but believable. The whole cast portrays emotions so well and very honestly, accurate portrayals of grief, mourning, and intricate relationship issues. Has probably become one of my favorite shows. I'll start Angel next once I finish Buffy. There were a few crossover episodes where it's almost expected you had been watching Angel as well. I'll miss the main crew, but I like Angel's character and I'm interested in seeing how Cordelia's character develops.

John Wick! Been meaning to watch it for a long time, finally did and it was pretty cool.
More importantly, I watched the original Blade Runner (the final cut) for the first time with my gf, and I have to say, it was pretty magical. The soundtrack I mean, that is a marvelous usage of synths, and the song memories of green might be my favorite song from a soundtrack ever. I've been listening to it non-stop. Highly recommended just for the music alone.

From watching the trailer of the sequel, it seemed like the movie is based on revenge for his cat, which rules. I love Blade Runner. I'm very excited for the new one which I have pretty high hopes for. I don't think it'll bomb. It'll be different than the original, but I think it'll stand on its own. I think Andrew posted a Blade Runner track in a thread somewhere. I'm sure many dungeoneers are fans of the soundtrack.

Count me in as another Blade Runner fan who hopes he doesn't get disappointed. I haven't been watching lots of movies lately, but I'm strong on the shows/series side. I saw and liked A LOT the new Twin Peaks season even though it was drastically different than the original which I consider the best ever series. I was thinking Lynch would disappoint us but instead he delivered indeed. Also saw latest Fargo season, good stuff alrhough sometimes disgusting but good as the previous seasons. Narco's latest season was great too and in the same style of the previous seasons. I'm sure I'm forgetting some but I will come back.. Now waiting to see Electric Dreams (based on Philip Dick's stories) as I saw it got a very good reception. Stranger Things is on the list to watch too but it had some pretty cheesy moments in the 1st season. Still.. p.s. Hopefully this thread is not only for fantasy movies/shows, if so sorry for off topic

Recently saw the first part of the silent Die Nibelungen from fritz lang, that may be the most dungeon film I've seen in a while. Also saw M also from lang which is also sick, the first great serial killer film.

I saw Baby Driver! I know this is not the kind of soundtrack that fits this genre, but the movie intertwines the music with the action, and the sets, and the colors. Seriously recommended, Edgar Wright is one awesome dude.

I'm watching all the seasons of Supernatural, for the 3rd or 4th time, maybe. That's dope.
I also recently watched a bunch of old movies like « The Godfather » or « Mean Streets ». I like the slow pace of old movies - and hate with a passion that stupid contemporary trend of ultra-cut movies.

I have a friend who is one of those people who are ultra into it but I honestly never talked to her about it. I watched a clip of it once in a class, actually, seemed too 'written'.

Well, if you love : - empry roads at night, barns, farms, abandoned cabins, typical diners, and all the rural american stuff - demons, ghosts, vampires, werewolves, blabla - bromance - good ole hard rock - incessant twists - self-referential humor and fan-service You'll love Supernatural. Sometimes it's serious, sometimes it's dumb, just as life.

Angel is a wildly different show than Buffy, and I wouldn't hesitate to say that it is overall not as consistent within its 5 seasons. But it's worth watching - they do try some things plot-wise that Buffy didn't really have the chance to try, so that much is to be commended. Right now I'm checking out The Expanse, a SyFy original show that is so far pretty decent - a friend tells me that as it gets moving it does some really incredible things with the constraints of TV, and he's often right about these things. I'm also interested enough in the new Star Trek, and I've been rewatching Community a bit, which was also a really ambitious show in terms of character development and concept episodes.

Ultimately I felt like it took a really long time to get into its groove as far as the campy humor goes, and also in terms of actually developing the whole show mythology. I'm also (relatively) old so I find the editing style of the show (as with many shows on the CW) to be very jarring. But there are worse things to watch, and a fair amount of the 'monster of the week' episodes are worth watching.

The Expanse. Works really well. Works like epic space and cramped space station drama with the fractions of the colonized solar system ploting and reacting to a forgin living crystal.

I love Supernatural as well! The main characters have really superb chemistry, the plots are fun, it delves deep into mythology, horror tradition and religion, has lots of neat pop culture references, and it doesn't take itself too seriously.
I've been watching the 90's classic sitcom Frasier. My wife gave it to me on DVD last Yule. I used to love this show back when, and rediscovering it has been not only nostalgic but also delightful, because it truly is a fun show. Somewhat dated and a product of its age, yes, but especially the supporting characters and cast are outstanding.
Apart from that, me and my wife try to watch a movie most Saturday nights; lately it's been b-horror and horror comedies. Scouts Guide To The Zombie Apocalypse was the best and funniest zombie movie since, oh, Zombieland probably, and for once a low-budget b-movie that was both cheesy and good, and in some places quite insightful as well in how it poked fun at the zombie genre. Cabin Fever II was also surprisingly good in a forgettable sort of way: lots of pointless gore, a plot that made very little sense, silly characters... an enjoyable romp that was basically all about making fun of high school teen (horror) movies. Both of these are on Netflix BTW, so if you're looking for something to watch, give 'em a chance!

I'm the kind of guy who watches movies 10 years after everybody ... I just saw "Jennifer's Body", and I was waiting for a boring and Scream-like movie. Well, it's far better than that.
