So I thought that, while we should certainly have threads for individual bands, it might be nice to get a thread going to congregate a lot of the Summoning styled epic black metal bands in one place. This is also slightly selfish, because I want to see if you guys have any that I haven't heard of! I'd love to hear more if it exists, because for Summoning being such a respected black metal band, relatively few have followed in their footsteps.
I'll start off with a few songs from some bands I love:

Emyn Muil is pretty good.
EDIT:
And this one is pretty new and epic:
And one of my favourite metal releases from this year:

Hell yeah some Kinstrife and Blood love! I have offered to re-issue that CD a number of times and the guy has never written me back... bummer.
I love this genre, as evidenced by my previous reissues of L'Ordre du Temple and Emyn Muil earlier this year. I'll post some related stuff later on when i have time to dig up some videos. It is sad that there isnt a ton of this stuff!

Nazgul is a bit overlooked in this genre, only had one album but it's fantasic:
Got re-released on vinyl in 2016, can still find copies floating around discogs at a reasonable price.

durthangcro.bandcamp.com/album/gathering-in-dol-guldurI've been enjoying this album a lot recently! It really reminds me strongly of Summoning at many points. I'm looking to get more into this style of black metal as I've been mainly a fan of rawer stuff historically. The more I get into DS the more I appreciate the synth work in this style of black metal

Okay I'm really not sure where to post this, but doesn't this scan of the Promo CD of Gallowbraid - Ashen Eidolon by Northern Silence Productions literally confirm that Jake Rogers is one half of Caladan Brood? I mean I'm aware it's been going around as a rumour for a long time now, but am I missing something? Because this seems to be NSP stating it as a fact. Here's the scan someone uploaded to Discogs: www.discogs.com/Gallowbraid-Ashen-Eidolon/release/5528211#images/11574642Apologies in advance if I'm being thick.

This has been posted a lot around, haven't seen it here, got a lot of deserved indeed praise : urdolur.bandcamp.com/album/seven-portals-to-the-arcane-realmsI have listened it already countless times and still can't get enough, it's exactly spot on what a Summoning inspired Epic Black Metal / Dungeon Synth should achieve, epic as a sword and sorcery book, the songs are true gems on the DS sidesongs while the BM ones themselves also are perfect, as should be. Great stuff here, this album deserves its spot next to Summoning, Caladan Brood, Kinstrife & Blood and company...

Besides Summoning, Caladan Brood or Emyn Muil I've come across some really cool Projects/Bands with similar sound.
To example Arathorn with their second release "Treue und Verrat". It features some Neofolk, Folk Metal und Dungeon Synth parts too, I really the overall mix.
Skroth with Skys Over Westeros is the second release that comes to mind. This one really breathes the Atmosphere of the well known Epic Black Metal Bands like Summoning, a little bit more simple, but not in a bad way. Especially the Westeros theme is really interesting at this one.
