It seems like a few "outsiders" are beginning to explore the sub-levels of the Dungeon and creating a new sort of hybrid between contemporary electronics and the darker and often cheesier sounds of Dungeon Synth. As the genre grows in popularity I guess this will become more common, established and natural. I was curious about what you guys think of it and which artists you would identify as such.
These are the ones I picked up so far: Alex Crispin*, Blvck Ceiling, Sonja Tofik and Anthony Linell.
(*Alex Crispin's Escape the Dark Castle Soundtrack might just be the one-off in his discography)

The other left field would be Aine O'Dwyer's music for Church cleaners. All performed on pipe Organ. But more along the lines of what you are talking about, I recently found this release on Bandcamp, which seems to combine some serious Berlin school type synth work with a DS aesthetic, almost like Kirkwood. gregorelster.bandcamp.com/album/fangs-of-kinbunal

I feel like Pumpkin Witch definitely counts as left-field pumpkinwitch.bandcamp.com/releasesAnd of course, Grol the Goblin is great, not to mention prolific. His album Murder Madrigals fuses G-funk and DS in a really neat way.
