Okay, I guess my question could be perceived as academical and maybe quite speculative...do you think guitars have a place in dungeon synth along with the electric/acoustic bass? For example I am composing a track that includes a 12 strings, a bass, percussions and, beside organ/keys, a part played by a 6 strings electric...if the feeling is still there, do you believe it could be technically considered dungeon synth? Or, do you need a sort of purity and orthodoxy regarding the concept of the composition being only conceived and produced with piano-like instrumentation?

Mortiis put some acoustic guitar in his Stargate album. I see nothing wrong or off topic in this, synth still stays as main instrument. You will hear a couple of guitar notes in next Sidereal Fortress album as well...

The only artist that comes to my mind would be Arathgoth (his latest album). I'm also working on some "hybrid" compositions with orchestral arrangements and acoustic guitars. It doesn't have to be considered as dungeon synth imo because of the lack of synths as long as it sounds great, but it just sounds very natural to me.

....and what about Kenosis, the dungeon flute guy? He uses both natural and heavy processed flute sounds. And still has much in common with DS even without keyboards. I liked very much his EP!

Sometimes I will use a monophonic synth sound that will often mimic a tremolo guitar. It generally creates a heavier sound, but still keeps it within the realm of dungeon synth. While not dungeon synth at all, Rhys Chatham and his guitar orchestra can often have a very ambient, spacey droney sound not dissimilar to black ambient. Generally DS is a genre which isn't confined by rules, a lot of artists perform very radically different unique acts from one another, which I think makes the genre better ultimately. I'm all for guitar sounds as long as they're executed well.

I have my sisters husband that is very good on guitar. I often uses him when I need something done on guitar. For the last FΓ₯ntratt release for example we played live together. I on organ and he on electric guitar.

Stone Dwarf's - The Paladin song from "...Of Ancient Mysteries & Eternal Worship" is a nice example of effective use of guitar sound.. Unfortunately I can't find any page to link to listen (youtube or bandcamp)..
