Indeed. I am also a member of fb pages but never post there, don't even read it or like the top bottom date format and stuff..
On the other hand I always liked forums and participated in many, always liked that you can have a look easily on older conversations , explore and discover new stuff and so on...
If we manage to get this place even more lively it would be very benefiting for the whole community I think.

The forums here are nice for conversations new and old, but I tend to check the 2 FB pages more regularly.

If we manage to get this place even more lively it would be very benefiting for the whole community I think. Agree! I think the only thing that we miss (besides more posting) compared to the FB DS pages is the speed and amount of news regarding new releases. Yes usually people or labels post/promote their stuff here but sometimes even "big" releases, for example some HDK stuff doesn't even get posted here. So I *think* if someone is not always refreshing the bandcamp "dungeon synth" tag on "new arrivals" obviously checks out a lot there so that he won't miss anything.. Then again this is easily fixed by just more posting or even a only new releases thread, nothing hard.. Anyway just posting some thoughts and ideas..

I never have noticed that, perhaps it is because there is enough old releases to be digging for years.. or it is just me? but yeah i guess it's alwayes good to be updated with new releases.

Too difficult to follow every release, nowadays, just because the output is impressive. Me has released 2 albums and 2 EPs in one year but there are projects or musicians which released 10+ albums in the same time.
There are so many releases I would love to listen carefully, buy, download, etc...but I have not too much time. I like listening to the same record for a long time, so I am honestly in difficulty with the DS scene now. The HDK releases need no particular promotion here, since they often stand on the bandcamp chart's highest places, as well as on almost every Facebook and Instagram post.
I think just gathering or inviting more active users would fix the "problem".

I petitioned years ago for the creation of a DS forum and eventually we finally got around to starting this. Most major social media is rather tedious and oversatured but sadly it is the place where news first appears (and sometimes the only place). I use both platforms but having been telling myself I'll delete FB for about 6 months now but just haven't gotten around to it. Too many conversations I already started, too many projects in discussions, not the best time to try and shift everything to email or forum messages. One day... I think the only thing that we miss (besides more posting) compared to the FB DS pages is the speed and amount of news regarding new releases. Yes usually people or labels post/promote their stuff here but sometimes even "big" releases, for example some HDK stuff doesn't even get posted here. Then again this is easily fixed by just more posting or even a only new releases thread, nothing hard.. Anyway just posting some thoughts and ideas.. I feel weird about "promoting" the board on Facebook or elsewhere. I don't really have a solid reason for this aversion, but it feels as though I'm leeching people away and it just seems unnecessary. I'm not one for promotion in general, really. Even Path of Silence releases only get one post and I leave it at that! Some people have expressed a preference for the comfort of the forum as it's smaller, cozier, and people are able to have longer discussions and explore old posts, so I guess it's more 'collected' in this way. Facebook, and all social media now, is in feed/scroll format and I'm really not a fan of that style. I much prefer being able to have it all out before me, choosing what I engage with instead of having to sift through everything. Would more promotion take away from the cozier feel of the board? I'm not exactly interested in the board having thousands of members (379 at the moment, which still shocks me), I think this would be far too stuffy (look at how cumbersome NWN is). I like the board being an option or alternative for those who want a more intimate experience with DS fans and artists, not trying to overpower/override the other mediums. Who knows what the future holds! If others wish to draw more people in, I'm fine with that.
