Greetings lords, knight and other dungeon dwellers! I'm Atanii (or AtanII, just as you like). Dungeon synth and making music is quite new to me. My first attempt to create music was just some months ago then after a gap I get my inspiration and determination together and between making not so ds like tracks I made my first dungeon synth album: atanii.bandcamp.com/album/journey-of-the-knightI would gladly read any critics including both positive and negative about it since I didn't get any opinion about it since I uploaded it and I don't know if I have any potencial or not. The story behind the compositions is a long and potencially dangerous journey through a dark forest inhabited by peasants and some folks within a small town with it's small castle. There lives the King of The Forest and the knight wants to take a visit to him. There are abandoned manors, dungeons across the woods. The "Opening" would have been the first song, but I wanted to add a longer opening to the album too so the first song is like a pre-opening for the story. Some of the tracks are mostly improvised and I used a little music theory for the others.

There are some good ideas here. I would say this is definitely more dark ambient than DS though, a lot of texture and atmosphere but not a lot of melody. I also wish some of the tracks were longer.
But since youโve just started I would encourage you to keep working on your music! Melody is an important element to separate DS from other styles of dark electronic music, and since you have a good sense of atmosphere, I think I would focus on developing this aspect.

Melody is an important element to separate DS from other styles of dark electronic music 100% agree! This is maybe the only "unwritten rule of DS" that really makes sense.

Thanks for the feedback.
Since I love (dark) ambient too it's good to hear that I didn't fail to express the atmospheres.
I'm going to work on my melody writing skills then.
Can you give me any advice about developing this skill?
I don't play any instrument, I use eather my pc keyboard or "picking" notes with the mouse. For the DAW, I use LMMS and I've been using MuseScore recently. (I like seeing the sheet of my composition, sometimes it helps.).
I know it could be harder to find melodies without playing and feeling an instrument, but I hope there's is a way to work it out.
