I live in Vancouver, the home city of Black Knight. What a killer EP. An ex-girlfriend of mine had an original copy. Very cool to see fans of old school heavy metal, classic doom and newer bands in the style as well. Manilla Road, Fates Warning, Crimson Glory, Blind Guardian, Dio, Manowar, Riot, Virgin Steele, Solstice, etc. That's my shit. There's a killer festival coming up in Houstin, TX next year. My band GATEKEEPER is playing:

A lot has been said about bands old and new, but still it feels like something's missing.
The best epic heavy of 2018:
And best of 2019:

It's Michael Whelan's artwork used for a C.J.Cherry's second book from her Morgaine Chronicles tetralogy (one of my most fond book serie from one of my most fond fantasy writer).

Ah, Tales of Medusa. The legends themselves. Allegedly they were based out of the same city I live in. I've got their second album with the certificate and everything and an embroidered patch at home somewhere. They had a cool, earthy sound

Griantor , your list is really a treasure list.. While I love this kind of stuff, at least in my circles in the years a grew up and listened to lots of metal (90-2000) all of the above is unknown to me, and I have a great blast, good times, looking it and exploring it.. I'm only reaching "Enchnater" starting from top, and already it has paid off (still listening previous stuff too) : The album Lord of the Realm by Axehammer was a total solid steel dope sorcery, such a great oldschool masterpiece I somehow missed!! So thanx for digging through your archives, endlessly appreciated and I'll come back to report for more.. Regards!!!

...so, do you LOVE Epic Metal like Warlord, Manilla Road, Brocas Helm? This is definitely what you need: irongriffin.bandcamp.com/album/curse-of-the-skynever heard anything like this since Lordian Guard and Doomsword, but here the vocalist is just OUTSTANDING!!!! I searched the forum to see if it has already been posted, this is the only thread I found so posting it here, in case the sad news haven't reached people yet, Bill Tsamis ascended on the 13th of May 2021... A legend, too young, an icon for many of us that grew old with Warlord and all the spectrum of the 80s era as kids... Very very sad but please play a song to his memory and I'm sure he'll notice from up there... R.I.P. .. See you there... p.s.1. So many years of Warlord and I never noticed he has released a really really excellent DS-like album back in the 90s, www.discogs.com/William-J-Tsamis-Sea-Of-Tranquility/release/4150709 (this is the rerelease)... Any Warlord, Bill Tsamis, and of course Dungeon Synth fan should certainly please take a listening : p.s.2. Also, Warlord fans should certainly take a look at all the B-Sides/demos included in some CD rereleases, endless gems there, one of my favorites, great song , EPICness in all its glory (MUCH better than the 2013 rerecording):
p.s.3 : This is my first post after not an absence but on a lack of time to even read threads here... I've been listening to lots of DS though in the meantime and gonna try to catch up a lot of stuff in the forum in the upcoming days, glad to see the forum is here and kicking, glad to see new faces and old alike around, regards to all!!

A belated "Rest in Power" to mighty Bill Tsamis. He is truly missed. Those news were almost as devestating to me as the death of the Shark. That put dark clouds over my mind for weeks after.
Apart from that, as i already said to crystallogic13 : I am deeply delighted to see the enthusiasm for actual Epic metal in particular and US Metal in general. I actually would have never expected that, reason being a lot of recent DS artists are rather young as far as i can tell and often European PM is much more popular among the younger folks.
Anyway, i raised my mental (and non-mental, too) fist countless times reading the list of Griantor . This is the good stuff! every single Band on this list is a Killer basically, Hell even Enchanter and Realmbuilder are on there. I feel i am among the righteous ranks here. As for myself and my relation to Epic Metal: The more obscure and odd the better basically.
So i humbly wanna add to this arsenal of glory some acts that march under the same banner:
And last but not least maybe the most glorious Epic Metal that is around these days, with the best drums and vocals of the genre. Mighty barbarians of WRATHBLADE:

Yeah too bad Griantor hasn't been seen in a while here, hopefully he returns sometime and fills more great stuff!! His list indeed is all full of hidden gems, as well as yours Heros, I'll be sure to look into each one of your nice suggestions (thanx for the extra time to link them also - be sure to post some text to remember what it was in case (not rare) it gets taken down! )!! Thanx for the recommendations again!!

I had the chance to go to a live concert for the first time since the virus outbreak and the resulting quarantine started last month. The guys are called Iron Blade and they play epic heavy metal/speed metal. One of the guitarists is a good friend of mine and their performance was great!

runeshard.bandcamp.com/album/shadowbaneI liked their previous album, a very succesful Bal Sagoth worship, but this one really feels, in GREAT GOOD WAY like an even more advanced evolved clone, this second album is mostly indistinguishable from Bal Sagoth in that if you had a blind listen to someone he could simply say that this is some new unknown Bal Sagoth, or old maybe unrealeased.. Totally recommened of course!!

I absolutely love Bal-Sagoth, the latest Runeshard sounds like Atlantis-era Bal-Sagoth but kind of better. Amazing work.
