You've probably heard of space and alien themed metal like Hypocrisy and Blood Incantation, but who are some other bands like these? Doesn't have to be death metal. Post it here!
Oranssi Pazuzu - Muukalainen Puhuu

Nice idea for a thread, a solid more "recent" years release to start off from me :
Oldschool era feeling heavy metal here, you get what you're looking for

How didn't this glorious album come to my mind immediately ? Trying to fix this now :
Scanner - Hypertrace
And to get a glimpse here is just one hymn of this really great oldschool 80s gem of Power Metal :

Heofon : For a while I thought, hey, this is not the Sword I remember back in the day I had a CD of them www.metal-archives.com/albums/Sword/Sweet_Dreams/473140 which I got on a bargain, never liked and is MIA atm Thanx for the rec, The Sword you posted is a different recent one, it's not my style maybe because of the sludgeness but I can see why it's appreciated , thanx!

OT: I have this double (LP and cassette) and their first album too. Not a top band indeed, but good 80s stuff anyway. The "Land of the brave" song is great though! Going to give a listen to The Sword, now.

There are quite a few space themed black metal bands, that I like, although some of them will probably be known to most people here. Bands like Darkspace, Mare Cognitum, Alrakis and so on. Space offers quite a fitting setting for black metal, due to its vast loneliness and solitude. It's strange, that it took until the early-mid 2000s that this theme was used in the genre. Heofon: Oranssi Pazuzu have a new album coming out in April.

Offenbarung also has a cosmic imagery in his "Manifestus" album. Great release!

Funny to just order a Blood Incantation cd a little while ago, then do a search on here and find that and Hypocrisy mentioned, as I have several of the latter's cds, and now this! How didn't this glorious album come to my mind immediately ? Trying to fix this now : Scanner - Hypertrace Holy crap! I've got the first Doomsday News compilation cd from Noise Records and their "Galactos" track was on it. I'd heard of them anyway, and once I ran across their Mental Reservation cd a few years later in town at a local record store I snagged that. Another pretty good German power/thrash metal band!

Battle Dagorath has some cosmic imagery/themes in their last few releases:
I - Dark Dragons of the Cosmos II - Frozen Light of Eternal Darkness Abyss Horizons

Along with Scanner, I forgot about another Noise artist who also did a bit of sci-fi themes, being Voivod (although they've been on several other record labels since).
