Anyone with this curious hobby, here? Have you ever thought about a urbex-themed album? I have something in mind....

I've thought it's really interesting for a long time. I wrote a short story about urban exploration for a creative writing class back in college, where of course the protagonists get eaten by some sort of Blair Witch/Lovecraft monster by the end.
Never actually did it myself though. Would be a unique concept for a DS album, though I'd imagine that concept has been thoroughly explored with more general dark ambient, considering all the album covers that are photos of abandoned buildings.

Exactly. I was thinking of Cryo Chamer style dark ambient stuff, indeed.

Even though I live in a major city right now, there's surprisingly little opportunity for urbex. I was quite surprised when I started searching online communities about it. I guess they just build so often now that anything abandoned or dilapidated gets bought up and replaced pretty quickly. Kind of a shame for explorers! There's some abandoned houses and things like that, but it's nothing like it was over a decade ago. Just constant development. If anyone's seen My Own Private Idaho, you can kind of get an idea of what it used to be like.
When I lived in Arizona, there was a lot more to explore. Would go down into sewers often in middle school. Probably the creepiest stuff I've poked around in. Just pitch black tunnels that feel like they don't end. Even though you can just turn around and run, something about black tunnel is scarier than anything else. Explored an abandoned preschool once, have a crazy story about that one. There was also this abandoned flour factory downtown up on a hill that everyone always wanted to explore, but they kept the perimeter pretty secure. It was kind of the legendary local haunted place, though none of us ever really got inside.
With how many artist names start with Old, Forgotten, etc, DS seems pretty urbex. Also: Abandoned Places. Can' get more urbex than that name.

I don't know if it counts as urban exploration, but one night a few years a go me and some of my friends sneaked into an abandoned textile factory in the woods near the Czech border. I don't know when the building itself was built, but from the looks of it, I would guess around 1900 plus minus a few decades. The factory itself seems to have been a prominent target of explorers, as there has been one or two geocaches inside the area.
The inside was quite interesting to see. There were a lot of tools and different types of machines in the production/working area. The factory also included some offices, where there were old documents and typewriters and a living area for the workers, which included an old, detuned piano. The factory itself closed in 2004, but from the looks of it, the offices and living area seem to have been out of use for some longer time.
Aside from this stuff, there obviously were some creepy things to be seen. There was some type of well inside the factory, where a gallow was hanging. Now, obviously no one commited suicide there and was probably just put there by some explorers as a joke, but still it gave off a haunting feel in the middle of the night. Another creepy, and possible dangerous thing, was, that some people seem to have used the factory to store or produce some kind of drugs. Of course, it could have just been us misinterpreting the fact, that there were different types of chemicals and powders lying about, but on the other hand, there were homeless people living in some of the rooms at times.

abstolutely YES! What maybe does not fit the urbex tag, is the exploration of medieval (or ancient in general) sites. At least to me, they belong to a completely different imagery...

I have already received tracks from some artists, so the deadline could be a month or so. You're absolutely welcome on board!
