Nadre walks over to Jurlis and asks "would you like to stay here and rest? We can set up a watch and I will protect you while you recover from your injury."
"I think it's best we don't mess with anything in this room too much until we are at full strength."

"I don't know if this is a safe place to rest... I'll be fine, I'll just fight with my crossbow. Either you or Nadre should take the lucky sword though," Jurlis says handing it off to either of them.

"Ypres may need it more than I." Nadre will take the sword if Ypres doesn't.
In the meantime he will exam the room for traps. He also wants to identify where the wind is whistling from. His Dwarven knowledge of stonework and dungeoncraft should show him.
Then he will approach the chest in the room cautiously. He asks if anyone detects anything magical about it. He wants to make sure it isn't rigged with any runes or that it truly is in fact a chest

Ypres will not take the sword because he is smart enough to know that he is unlikely to hit anything with it. Also, his superstitious mind suspects it may be cursed. He will stick with his plain but functional iron axe.
Ypres Zo also suspects that the wooden floor beneath the chest may be concealing a cavity, and suggests that we could try chopping through it once we inspect the room for traps. It could provide an escape route if the door becomes blocked, or a quick way to lower levels once we're ready.

The fear of uncertainty hangs around you as you all huddle in some room you have not seen or have no idea how you came to it. Your heart races as you try to make sense of it all. As various hirelings are ordered to shake the tapestries dust motes float down from and settles on the already dusty floor. The chest in front of you appears to be locked but with a thin and cheap looking band. It could probably be broken. To the south is where the wind is rushing and in the darkness you can see a glimmer of torch light and some chatter of a creature. To the east is another passage. It is dark with no sound coming from it. Jurlis winces at his wounds but wants to press on. The chatter of the creatures waxes and wanes as the distant torch light makes shadows on the ceiling of the passage before you.
No Torchlight

"Before we do anything, perhaps we should see what's in here," Jurlis says, 'casually' meandering over to the chest. He then uses the sword (which I guess I still have) to slice the band which seals the chest. If that doesn't work, he'll chop the band with his axe. Assuming he gets it open and doesn't die from a devious trap, he'll then hand the sword over to Nadre who will be able to make much more use of it in combat. Then he opens the chest!

Jurlis walks over to the chest and looks around before drawing his +1 sword. With a quick swipe he strikes down on the flimsy band holding the chest and everyone in the party inhales a sharp breathe waiting for death and dismemberment. In the gloom of darkness Jurlis sticks his hand inside of the chest and fumbles around at the various satchels of coins and gems. There is:
Treasure Range: 6feW4p391-20 Treasure Type: 1-4 Treasure Amount: 1-100 x 100
One sparkling gems shines even int he darkness. A flawless diamond which must be worth over 6,000 GP. GADZOOKS!
+2000 XP to Jurlis / Nadre / Ypres
Current XP for Each Player = ~2370. Nadre and Ypres ADVANCE TO LEVEL 2.
The clank of the metal band rings out in the darkness. The light at the very end of the wall flickers and you can hear approaching footsteps from creatures coming your way!

Nadre takes the ornate sword and motions for the party to follow him quietly down the dark and quiet eastern passage. He can see in the dark so he signs for no torches to be lit. He motions to go slowly and quietly and stay close following his lead.
He will be wary going forward of traps and other enemies but they also need to get out of this room before the enemies find them.
Once they are out of this room he glares at Dockzer and Calahas for being so distant and forlorn

So did we collect everything in the chest before we heard the footsteps? Or did we only have time to grab the diamond? Either way, Jurlis will close the chest and try to put the band back into place so that it's not obvious it had been opened.

Jurlis grabs the diamond and packets it and feels his experience in dungeon delving expand. Nadre and Ypres grab all of the other shellshocked party members to shuffle in the east corridor. With lights snuffed the torch light grows from the southern hall and a group of goblins come into light and look around the chamber. There are FKXkreTp1-6 goblins with torches and one of them bends down and kicks the chest. The band clatters on the chest but holds firm. After a brief moment the goblins look at each other. They listen closely and scan the room while sniffing.
1: you are spotted, 2-6 you stay hidden. 1-6
See you stupid animal there is nothing here lets go back
"We should keep checking these corridors, I heard something," one of them says while pointing towards the east corridor.
"You hear like a tree stump" one of them says and laughs a vile cacophony of noise "come on we have more rooms to check and we already came this way from upstairs. Nothing is here."
The goblins move back towards the south with one of them chortling. 1-6·1-6

Whispers "there's only 2. We might be able to take them out unless there is a larger group up ahead. But Jurlis is still injured. Do we catch them off guard or keep going down this passage? We could look for the prisoner as well."

"Let's not avoid combat on my account, I can just use my crossbow. In any case I think we should go back to get the rest of what's in that chest," Jurlis whispers. "One of us might be able to sneak and get it..."

Ypres feels a new confidence filling his chest. His mind is afire with the possibilities this new wealth brings. His gambling debts are a thing of the past - in fact, he could probably buy the gambling house with his share of the fortune! His pigeon-chest held high, it's all he can do to stop from cackling toothlessly, despite their apparent danger.
Ypres Zo suggests that perhaps we should not kill these goblins now, since they will probably return to the others upstairs and inform them everything is fine. Even if we kill these 2 silently, the rest upstairs will probably send another patrol if these don't return. Right now, we are pretty safe, and we know the goblins can't hear anything down here very well. Ypres thinks we should go (quietly) check the chest for more loot. Probably Calahas the Thief should be the one to do it, if he's not too "shellshocked"

"Good point Ypres let them live for now. I'm too clunky in my armor to go back and check the chest."
If the coast is clear Nadre will light a torch and hand it to that farmer hireling if he is still with us

The group speaks in hushed whispers as the light from the two goblins fades away into the southern hallway. As soon as it is out a crack of light comes to life and the room you are in comes to life with light and strange things on the wall. Ancient tapestries depicting human sacrifice and other occultist symbols hand in intricate detail. It seems that this chamber is apart of some celebrate demonic worship network and the place in which you are in is the repository for tribute. More grim discoveries happen as the shadows that lie in the corners now reveal mounds of clothes from what you can assume is participants for said ritual. the chest in front of you clatters as your party members take off the band and with the light you find nothing more of value aside. From the south you can hear the goblins searching around and yelling at each other.
