I'd be up for it. Would it be like each track passes by each person only once? Should probably setup some rules if we don't want it to be super choppy, sounding like a bunch of tiny songs in one track. I'd say no inclusions longer than a certain amount of time (30 sec, 1 min?), one track at a time, maybe leave notes for the next person about what you added or did.
I was thinking yes it would pass each only once. But each person would not necessarily just maje the track longer. I was thinking the instructions something like:
Evey song is a folder that contains both wav files and a txt.
The wave files are parts of the song until the final mix is done by the last person on the line.
The txt is notes. The first person writes information and suggestions for the next and all the rest. Scales, tones, modes, bpm, rythm etc. As the folder is passed on the next person adds to the txt. Which notes and scales used are important so the next in line would know what notes that work well in case sone does not know theory enough.
In my imagination it would go like this. I play a baseline on the synth with a trumpet and save basetrumpet1.wav. I play in 60 bpm 4/4 so i write that in the txt. I used the notes D, F and G. So i write that in the txt. I play a few bars and save it as wav. I play a flute part that goes fine with the baseline so I save flute1.wav that separately and writes in the notes "baseline1 mixes well with flute1. Then i pass the folder along.
Next guy makes an additional melody that goes well with the baseline and saves that separately melody2.wav but also mixes and adds some reverb to the flute and saves a baseline1flute1mixed.wav.
Next guy makes a rythm and saves drum.wav and adds melody2.wav to flute and mixes it with some bird screech and save it as intro.wav. and so on.
I say each song could go a complete lap and why not even an secondary. Why not.
Length. I see no need for limitations on that part but i am not against it.
I think i would be best to have atleast 1 song in circulation per 2 participants so it keeps flowing.
Suggestions?
