Hello, good people of The DungeonTM
I consider myself something of a soft drink connoisseur. I have sampled many different flavors, brands, and varieties of soda over the years, and have found that it is truly the alpha beverage, the drink of choice of champions. So, for all fellow soda pop lovers/enthusiasts, whether you truly love the stuff, or just drink casually, I want to know: which sodas are your favorites? What interesting/unusual varieties have you tried? What particular sodas do you find pair well with specific foods? What are your go-to sodas for just casual drinkage? Inquiring minds want to know.
For me, my favorite soda is definitely Moxie, a kind of cola with a unique sweet/herbal/slightly bitter flavor that pairs exquisitely with any savory food, and tastes wonderful on its own, too. It might take a few sips to get used to if you're trying it for the first time, since the flavor isn't really quite like any other soda, but I love it and stand by it.
Aside from Moxie, I also love Fanta's peach soda and Barq's root beer, though I find that, with root beer, you can't really go wrong with any brand, tbh. I'd also be remiss if I didn't mention Dr. Pepper, the true patrician beverage.

Moxie sounds great! Sadly the UK doesn't seem to have the same culture of fizzy pop like the States do and getting ahold of Root Beer isn't always easy over here, although I am very fond of the stuff.
I particularly like a good Ginger Beer and Dandelion and Burdock which is a bit of an old school drink and not something you see as much as you used to but it is definitely good stuff

Dandelion and Burdock sounds like a dream, to be honest. Never knew it even existed before now, but now I have to try it lol. Ginger beer of course is really nice too, and on the topic of floral sodas, I had the opportunity of drinking a homemade rose soda once, and it was about the most pleasant thing I've ever imbibed. Gotta figure out if rose soda is something that's produced on a wider scale anywhere.

I'm obsessed with this and the many many variants and different brands available in my area: www.supermalt.com/definitely an acquired taste to say the least Here in the UK our ridiculous 'sugar tax' meant that without warning all UK soft drinks became horrible half-sugar, half-sweetner concoctions overnight, except from Coke which is magically immune from the law I guess??? and costs like twice as much as anything else. Luckily we have loads of different nationality local shops where they have amazing arrays of strange ultra-sugary imported drinks and off-the-back-of-a-lorry non-UK versions of the regular ones with full sugar in them as nature intended Also Club Mate is a good hipster/hacker/berlin beverage not so often found here in the UK alas

The only "Soft Drink" i enjoy is regular soda, sparkling water. I have a problem with sweet liquids, just don't enjoy them, and i can't find any soft drinks which are completely bitter, unfortunately, not in my country anyway.

Seems like there's an interesting history there as well. I find it intriguing that there are some nutritious aspects to it as well. Obviously not too common in soft drinks lol. Also, I've heard many a British person tell me that sweets in other countries (ice cream, soda, lemonade, etc) all taste better in different countries than they do in the UK lol. Kind of a double edged sword I suppose, but then again, artificial sweeteners are often worse for one's health than sugar is, so who knows.

Used to be addicted to mountain dew so I've kind of cooled off with soda since then. But I like fuck with root beer sometimes, mostly boylan, stewart's, and a&w. Honestly I don't really like barq's that much, plus it's weird that it has caffeine. Definitely mess with cream soda too but it's been a while since I had any.

Another Super malt fine right here, however pretty much everyone I know who has tried it hates it (apart from my dad). I can't actually think when I last had some though, probably over a year ago so think I will pick up some again this weekend

Had it once and it was literally the nastiest thing I've ever drank in my life, literally had to spit it out. Insanity.

Oh god, someone else knows the pain. I think root beer and ginger ale is slowly taking off over here but yeah, it can be hard to find good-quality root beer in the UK. In any case, I've been enjoying whatever Canada Dry I can get my hands on, as well as Fanta "Berry", which the side of the can tells me contains no actual juice - just sugar. I also adore this energy drink called Relentless Lemon but it's either been discontinued or there's been some problem with production due to Covid-19.

I keep looking out for Canada Dry but never see it anywhere. I am quite fond of Tonic Water either on it's own or with ice (even better with Gin obviously)

I am quite fond of Tonic Water either on it's own or with ice (even better with Gin obviously) I'm not a massive fan of tonic water but there's absolutely days where I end up reaching for a can. I find it's hard to drink in large quantities, which I like because it encourages me to just have a glass or two, not a whole bottle to myself! Have you ever tried Fever Tree? That's usually the stuff I go for. Just like you said, gin makes everything better.

Iβm surprised this thread has gone on this long without the obvious answer Occurring (dungeon synthposting folks know all too well)
