Greetings dungeoneers! I'd like to present to you two projects I've started lately. Ontrothon, Saga of the Ancient Glass is a project that works as a soundtrack to the rpg campaign I've been playing throughout the years and being "soundtrack-ish" has a variety of styles, from DS to fantasy ambient and game soundtrack/orchestral. I've released a full-length up to now and I'll be doing a new album whenever we hit some "milestones" in the campaign.
"A Compendium of Curiosities" is a kind of experimental entity in which I'm exploring specific styles in every release. The first ep is in a neo-medieval sort of style while the album is closer to dungeon synth, using old school simple synths and the like.
thanks,
Chris

Thanks mahrgdidj! And hi crystallogic13,a Manilla Road fan I see, nice. And yes, while I haven't been in the DS scene for long I've noticed there are A LOT of greeks doing this kind of music. I guess probably because DS comes mostly from the black metal and epic metal scene and we always had strong ones. Thanks, and I hope you enjoy Compendium of Curiosities as well!

Predictably, Ontrothon is excellent. Very jealous of how much feeling you were able to convey on Ghost of the Obsidian Forest. Total banger.

Hey, just had repeated listens today of your first aCoC release (https://acompendiumofcuriosities.bandcamp.com/album/visions-ternelles) and I thoroughly enjoyed it top to bottom, the sound is as evoking as it should, soothing with a feeling of old times.. Really liked it, congrats, can't wait to listen to your recent January release!! p.s. Yes Manilla Road, Crystal Logic and Open the Gates especially along with other classics (Manowar,Blind Guardian etc etc) weere the absolute epic monuments when reading Conan and playing RPGs back in the days when DS was not a thing !! Indeed mate, BM scene was always strong as far as I remember , too bad though the Epic metal fans here are not as many(I think..) as they used to be back then..

Thanks guys so much!! Cauldronofthesun, I saw your purchase, thanks so much. And mahrgdidj for Ontrothon again. Crystallogic13, while I was from my younger days a bm fanatic, Manilla Road was one of the few epic heavy metal bands I could listen to for more than 2-3 tracks (Manowar was always boring to me). Seeing them live twice (the second being the last show before Shelton died) was perhaps the apex of heavy metal live, and some guys in their 60's making real lessons to the younger ones and very inspiring that you never get old for heavy metal... Glad you liked aCoC as well!

Hehe ayloss, that "boring" for Manowar was a dagger I tried to battle, but taste is subjective as always.. Dunno the era you got into them, cause I agree that after their last great "Triumph of Steel" it all went downwards records wise, but as I've written in another post, my best ever live was Manowar's 2019 here in Athens, they really nailed it.. The open place @ Niarhou, the summer good weather and vibes, people, Manowar, everything was 100% , I even NEVER expected it.. I hope maybe you were at that live, it was that great mate.. Even as a Maiden fan (only 2 lives) Manowar really nailed the fucking place, everyone was extatic and probably almost noone expected it to be that great...
Again ayloss always nice to have another greek here, I kinda feel sometimes talking about the good old days, those mid 90s Saturday summers everyone(and me as a teen) was downtown @ Rock City,Happening and Metal era buying metal records and talking about stuff.. Regards!!

So, I'm back with a new ep album! This time it's a little less DS and more in the field of electronic/ambient music, as it was a particular concept that I've wanted to make for some time now based on a dream I once had. You could say that I tried to use elements of DS in a more drawn out, ambient way. The second track is very different to what I've done until now and is more of an electronic/prog track in the likes of Tangerine Dream/Steve Roach/Klaus Schulze.
Here are some download codes: 9khj-kafm nnqr-gne6 m58d-3jfy g6zc-h65f yn2e-5yna 3am9-b3v7 a68k-c4z5 acompendiumofcuriosities.bandcamp.com/yum(Crystallogic 13, no I wasn't at that show so the apex of heavy metal live is still Manilla Road and Cirith Ungol for me... but yeah to be honest I know I'd like it if I went, Manowar do have a lot of songs that defined metal after all. I would say my thing was mostly about their aesthetics and attitude...Bathory were the true ones for me you see!)

m58d-3jfy used, many thanx Ayloss!! I'm on an DS listening onslaught tonight Great mate, Manilla Road holds as you see a *very* special place in my heart and memories, Crystal Logic and Open the Gates are more than monumental, magical even really!!! Cirith Ungol are cult classics (while not my fav, still so epic) and Quorthon (RIP..) is a legend... One of the best interviews he's ever given was (translated maybe??dunno) to the gr Metal Hammer, the guy was like an ultra cool dude... My best Bathory should be Blood Fire Death/Hammerheart/Twilight of the Gods and the underappreciated by many Blood on Ice... But the guy is one of THE icons and his influence in both epic metal and black metal were huuuuuuge and everlasting...
