Hey folks, Leander has released it's second record, Sorrow Dwellings, today on Bandcamp. I'll drop the link below: Leander - Sorrow Dwellings

Loving the layers of grit all over this. The whole thing has a really enchanting dirty sparkle to it. Great composition too, Iβm enraptured.

Thank you for such unwarranted praise. I'm glad you enjoyed it.
My recording setup is fairly primitive, but I was inspired by the mix of two Jim Kirkwood albums for 'Sorrow Dwellings'. Those are 'Ancient Fields' and 'Knight of a Dark Grail'. I'd like to think I was channeling those on this record, but of course, I could never be close to Kirkwood in any way.

Whatβs your recording setup? Am I correct in assuming thereβs an analog element?

There is. My keyboards are Yamaha SY-22 and SY-55.The main 'riffs' for the songs are an analog synth I programmed. There are a few variants of the analog sounds across the album.

i'm really into this. sort of pretty, sort of rough. weird-shit-in-the-woods energy, good and evil. this is sick, that southern DS just smells different.

Hey @losain, had many listens of your last one yesterday, distinct style you have, maybe at times on the borderline of DS but still very very interesting - I even had a sense of unease at times, dunno if it was conveyed deliberately! For me the highlight of the album for me would be the last and biggest song Cearselda, this felt like the end of the trip and very succesfully getting you to chill , very very nice song really... Looking forward always for more, regards!

Thanks friend. I really appreciate you listening and enjoying.
I'm still not sure how to label the style; I know it doesn't fit with the more traditional medieval or grim dungeon synth, but the I'd still like to think overall I'm working within the genre. Jim Kirkwood has been a big inspiration for this project, and also Hole Dweller, amongst others. I don't have near the talent or musical vernacular of those poets, but the narrative quality and bright, melancholic tones specifically of Kirkwood and HD encouraged me to work in that direction with my own stuff.
