Dear dungeon dwellers, I noticed we don't have a twin thread to the "Dungeon Synth you're listening to right now" for metal purposes , and since I 've thought of this one thousand times, I've gone ahead and made one, so whenever we arrive here and listening to metal instead of our loved Dungeon Synth, we can post it here (Any metal, heavy, thrash, death, black, doom, epic, power , progressive , YOU NAME IT , as long as you see fit Since we also don't have a METAL videoclips thread I think it fits any videoclips that you bang your head on youtube too! Bring it on!! I'll start with what I'm listening right now:
Forteresse - Thèmes Pour La Rébellion
I have posted it again for certain in the forum, but this is what I'm listening right now, call me a fanatic or anything, but for more speedier black metal I have concluded that this is my FAVORITE album for the new millennium.. I fckng can't stop listening to this masterpiece, top to bottom, an attack of music in the best of senses, an agressive, rageful vengeance of an album!! I honestly can't stop writing how I great I feel for this one.... And this is not excitement or anything, I've actually melted the damn... ehm... flac/mp3s?..? Either way the damn HDD of my PC has melted the place those bytes reside!! One last note, I love the production and stuff values, as a non musician at least but as a music fan, the sound is PERFECT in my ears!!
Since I have already proposed it again , I will put in one specific song , so if you've never heard of it, you can have a quick taste if no time for full album :

I'm currently listening to Manilla Road's The Courts of Chaos album. The Book of Skelos might be my favorite song off the album? All in all, it's a fun listen:
*EDIT* ( LOL I just realized your name was Crystal Logic xD )

Great angbandslasthero haha my forever favorites and beloved are always Crystal Logic and Open the Gates, I can never have enough of them but I think every oldschool epic + metal fan always has a special place in his heart for the treasure that was ( RIP Shelton ) Manilla Road !! I can't count how many great memories they bring to me and how much magic and atmosphere these emit .. Here's one of the last lives available on youtube (in Athens Greece, unfotunately I didn't attend ) , playing the golden masterpiece The Ninth Wave... It's cut and only 3 songs are uploaded but still the atmosphere is all there!! Now Playing (Judas Priest - Turbo Lover from Turbo) Currently at work and listening to youtubes playlist , another classic here, the album is not that good but the song is like heaven, feeling good, 80s oldschool vibes and a videoclip with what I get are many Terminator references, bikes, good looking female (as Thin Lizzy put it ), more more more than just a classic ..

Great album indeed @tavlisynth , my favorite from E. Champion and a perfect record!! Totally so f recommended for all!! Listening regularly to it, always on my playlist!! Np Running Wild - Port Royal an all time classic of course Running Wild have a huge discography with many masterpieces and I personally never can decide which one is my favorite album, it always changes around their 1987-92 golden period .. Here's Conquistadores so that you can bang your head immediately (the video is atrocious quality unfortunately -bad old tape rip from RTL it seems- but you can get GREAT VIBES from the late 80s crowd , probably '89) *headbanging*

Nice taste in music! crystallogic13 talvisynth , I haven't really fallen for Eternal Champion yet but I know one day they will click and I will get it Love the band name though, and their 2nd album cover art looks amazing!! I just got back from a metal festival in Texas called Hell's Heroes!! My neck is still sore lol... I got to see so many bands I love perform live, and was so psyched for Morgul Blade: When this EP came out years ago I was instantly drawn in with the synth intro and the beautiful contrast of vocals. As a huge ass middle earth nerd (no surprise there) I fell in love with this band in a heartbeat <3 Check out their full length album, they also have a cute music video for 'A Last Waltz of Gevaudan'

Yeh, I guess this one did it a bit for me as well in requiring a couple of extra spins more before it really hit. Especially as generally I don't tend to gravitate that much towards any newer metal anymore ("new" in this case referring to anything after the 90's ) - the only exceptions being just some few new albums from certain older bands (or new bands formed by certain "old farts" ) - but some time back a friend of mine recommended checking out Eternal Champion, so decided to give it a try. I must say, the debut turned out pretty good indeed. The 2nd album was ok as well, but didn't find it quite as catchy and memorable as the first release. Today been listening to the good ol' Witchfinder General while working.

talvisynth Good to know I wasn't alone on that! For as many people who love EC I though I was lol. I will check out that first album then As for newer bands, I actually was pulled back into metal thanks to them. Well I mostly enjoy newer bands with an older/traditional sound. As long as they hold their own in uniqueness and don't sound like a bootleg version of an older band. Going to branch off your doom while keeping in theme for newer bands... I've been really enjoying Smoulder since I first listened to this album a few years ago: They have a new album coming out soon with some beautiful Michael Whelan art gracing the cover. Got my preorders and excited for the release!

angbandslasthero I remember that song btw! I guess it was the same friend who recommended me EC that also hyped about Smoulder when their debut came out. Catchy song tbh, and I could check out the whole album too. And ofc, I don't mean that newer metal was actually bad in any way; there are many good and talented bands out there, no probs! For me it just keeps happening nowadays that more and more often I find myself listening to some older metal instead of checking out any new bands on my own. I tend take quick peeks if coming across recommendations and if I have time and energy for it. I guess it has to do with age or something; the strong feelings about the music I grew up with combined with the experience of getting overwhelmed by the vast amounts of new music coming in from doors and windows, whereas deep inside me I'd like to just lay back and relax, take it easy and not care too much about the ever increasing pace of the world, and just listen to the good ol' stuff that I already know. Where available, add some nostalgy vibes to it, have a couple of quality beers and let "teh bestestness" commence.

Also I get that, there are soooo many bands coming out these days it's hard to keep up on everything. The genre feels oversaturated almost, but then again what can you expect from a genre that encompasses a lot of subgenres? If something new doesn't click asap, it goes on the back burner until the mood arises. XD Anyways, I completely understand preferring to listen to bands you already know you enjoy. You don't have to think about the music because you already love it. It's a lot less exhausting since you don't have to think about it, you can just sit back and relax~

No need to post a link, but I have found myself dead in the grips of my once-a-decade Metallica spell this week, where I listen to nothing but the first metal band I got into nonstop for a week or two lol
