Fen Walker - The Totem wilds call thy name fenwalker.bandcamp.com/album/the-totem-wilds-call-thy-nameThis is very interesting and grows a lot after a couple of listens, somehow it's like it has a narrative in its music... Dunno if it's the long title tracks but indeed the songs seem like following an invisible story!! Recommended listening!! Need to come back to this release. I quite enjoyed it the first time through. This winter/dungeon release from Soulstess has a really nice sound. soulstess.bandcamp.com/album/soulstess

Revisiting this. Perhaps I should put it higher in my best of 2019 list.

That album is very good.
I'm listening now to your album (Encloaked), it went unnoticed for me until now. Very well done, quite enjoyable sounds, and I'm a fan of the guitar in track 3.

Listening to Ancient Boreal Forest's latest one, ancientborealforest.bandcamp.com/album/where-dragons-dream " Where Dragons Dream" and as the artist informs : So out of the first five batch, besides a passable fist track intro, I really like the feel of it. Putting aside that I like a lot of the previous releases of ABF, this one is different since besides being more epic, it has (black) vocals.. And while many other tries I've seen fail, this is a good combination of DS with vocals.. The closest I can think is of the excellent Emyn Muil's second release/ep .. Please not though, this is not at all black metal or resembling to Summoning, it is Dungeon Synth with vocals, and done pretty pretty well to be honest.. I don't generally like DS with vocals since 95% they are so amateur/bedroom/bad they ruin completely the song, but this style is one that I like, and probably because it was done originally with the thought of including vocals, not an afterthought.. That's my guess at least... Anyway certainly worth a listen and I'm still exploring it..

I noticed Encloaked is on the Dungeon Synth Archives YouTube page. How did you manage to get your project posted there? Do you know a way to contact the person who runs that page? They ignore my emails and I can't fathom why.

I've been asked a hundred times why there's no Aufhocker albums on their channel, and all I can say is that I don't know why. They ignored my email communication attempts. Perhaps they simply dislike the project.

They ignore my emails and I can't fathom why. Oh really? That's a bummer. I emailed them with just one advance song and asked if they'd be interested in hearing the full album and they got back to me in a couple of days asking to hear it. We tried to coordinate having the video coincide with my release date but they got busy with the holidays and it ended up online a couple weeks later. Sorry that they never got back to you about yours, I'd try again when you've got some new material! In my experience (and I have a fair amount in this area) lots of labels, press and promo people get really bogged down in music requests. I recommend emailing someone with your best track, a quick note about yourself and the project and let them know you have a full album if they're interested in hearing more. It's way easier to get someone to listen to one song than a full album. On Topic, I'm catching up on Lord Lovidicus today. Great stuff on this album www.youtube.com/watch?v=ajZUusgJT2w&t=8s

Both Ulk and Hole Dweller had great releases this year indeed, great listens!! @ Element0s Lord Lovidicus along with of course sir Erang would be my first recommendations always for the modern era , classic stuff, mandatory discographies there!!! Also, a fun fact I caught yesterday on FB, Lord Lovidicus name comes from the Elder Scrolls. That I didn't know. So, currently listening to this : Stiffy Keys - Anarchy in the Dungeon stiffykeys.bandcamp.com/releasesI don't know if this short work is supposed to be more of a fun/troll attempt at putting a punk shade on DS, but can you imagine that it succeeds ? It is not equally good, track 2 and 6 are kinda fillers, where 1 and 3 are the same on a different take, but STILL if I could ever imagine something like that, being enjoyable, track 1 feels like an anthem haha this short work would be it. Funny experiment and I think it should be checked out for its own good thing. Recommended.
