DS Forum Compilation

Hello comrades, I am making this thread because I had a grand idea: a compilation!  We each can make a track and it'll be sort of an unofficial forum compilation.  Or we can make it official.  If someone else had this idea let me know!  And let me know if you like the idea!

If we decide to proceed we'll need some cool art and a title and such and I want the community to pitch in on all that so I'm definitely very open to suggestions!

Maybe it'll even end up on cassette, who knows!

I think this is a great idea friendo. It'd be cool to come up with some central theme for this. With so much variation between everyone's music, this will be a very interesting and fun endeavor!

Yeah a central theme would be great, in my opinion!  What do other people thing?  What would some good themes be?  We can brainstorm and even just throw imagery around at this phase.

I am sure with everyone involved in this thing there are many resources available including art, design and mixing. If this thing goes through, we can host it in some sort of vault.

Thanks for the support so far, guys! Any thoughts as to any central/unifying themes? One idea I had was to center it around this image/idea of a coven of like warlocks or druids in a dark, dank dungeon lair.



I have a soft spot for dark hooded figures, and I think it'd be sort of a cool way of depicting the group.  What other thematic ideas were folks having?

Could this be a potential place for a DS mixtape where people supply one off and special tracks not featured anywhere else that could be uploaded on Bandcamp for free?

Is it your picture ? It looks great ! I' very into dark dungeons and warlocks

Sure!  I'd love to see unique tracks that don't appear elsewhere.  I was thinking of doing like 20 tracks max or something.  I can make a new bandcamp or something if people would like that and we can put it up there.  It can be free, for sure.  That's how I do all my stuff.  Physical versions we can charge for, if they get made.  Also, Svarograd, that's not my image unfortunately but I think it'd be cool to have one of our more visually-artistically-inclined individuals draw something up.  I like that image but I'm open to whatever kind of imagery people are into.  Something hand done would be awesome.

I'm definitely down for this! Count me in! It'll be nice to write some DS that isn't about literature for a change! I think the warlocks theme could definitely work. I really like the idea of a compilation that is also a concept album.

I think planning a compilation would be easier here than FB as separate threads can be made for collection discussion.

Sounds great!  So shall we proceed forth with the warlock theme?  I'm good with that if everyone else is.  Everyone try to make a track with warlock/wizard/sorcerer/druid/something magical in the title and musically imbue it with a exceptionally mystical quality (whatever that means to you).  Should we try to aim for the darker end of things or do we want to have a sort of variable mood and atmosphere that all flows together cohesively (like it'll be cinematic, and possess some highs and lows)?  Also if anyone has ideas for an overall title let's hear it!  Also I'd like to delegate this artwork task over to someone or we can try and find some existing artwork and edit that.   Volunteers?

I don't think it'll come as a surprise to anyone that I prefer the cinematic route lol. However, If others prefer to go dark throughout, I'm definitely fine with that, too.

What totally odd timing that two folks had that idea at practically the same time...well if the facebook group does its own thing I suppose that's fine but I was intending to mostly keep this within the forum.  But if we can get those folks onto the forum or something then this would be quite cool.  Do we want to just make two separate compilations? hm
