I do not think it is a competition regardless rather just a tool for greater exposure on a compilation. If every active member on this forum both known and more obscure contirbuted I think it would be a reat document for fans and new people to sort of chronicle DS in 2017.

Also it looks like there will be two comps...the Facebook one and this one. I have no idea how long it takes you to write a song but today is the 1st, Would a month be too presumptuous to make songs, get them uploaded on Bandcamp and make art? Today is the first so that would be 28 days (Damn February) I do graphic design as a hobby and can do layout / design for this. I will submit something of worth before this deadline. |

What totally odd timing that two folks had that idea at practically the same time...well if the facebook group does its own thing I suppose that's fine but I was intending to mostly keep this within the forum. But if we can get those folks onto the forum or something then this would be quite cool. Do we want to just make two separate compilations? hm I think making a discord will be a better idea for this since we can chat and talk in realtime, make group chats for specific topics and so forth. So real quick a couple of things before I make a big announcement. This is a compilation open to anyone for new or unreleased DS material that is based around a theme of a cloaked figure. This might be getting ahead of ourselves but do we want the image if it is based be be the album cover or on the cover. If so I would want to use a public domain or one in the category of free use so we don't have to worry about usage rights. Sound good the people who have expressed interest?

The main one would be cool if it is done by a professional, a small artbook with 10 pieces by some of the artists as an addition will do a great job. |

Well I mean that's a great idea but who will do that? If everyone completes their songs and we are all sure of what we are doing, we may ask everyone to put a small amount of money into the pot. This will make sure we do pay for quality. EDIT: the small artbook consists of the musicians their OC it will be good if we got a professional inbetween us though... |

Just for backup, I am going to find a classical painting (art history hobby) that we can work from just in case the commission doesn't work out. I w3as racking my brain for cloaked figures in classical art but something close is magic based artwork which I LOVE to collect (digitally). I also had an idea for the name to be WAND & SHADOW which has a nice ring to it and also captures the magical (not fantasy pper say) aspects of the music as well as the secretive and dark undertones. Anyway the first piece is called The CONJUERER from Bosch and the second one is MAGIC CIRCLE by Waterhouse.   |

It all sounds good to me so far! I'm curious, though, about the concept. It sounds great, and I'm totally down with it, but in what way will the concept affect the music, and to what degree? Like, Is there a story here we should follow? I'm only asking because songs about hooded figures sounds a little vague.
