Lamentation worship!
Lately my favorite Lamentation release has been As ShadowKingdom Comes to my Sight, which is extremely underrated and unique in my opinion. I still need to try and track down Eine Symphonie der Nacht as well.
Edit: Just ordered Eine Symphonie der Nacht from Discogs. Now all I need is Whispers from Carmilla's Tomb to complete my collection.

Lamentation is one of my favorite oldschool DS artists for sure. I should hunt down some physical copies

Did Lamentation have any of the same ideology as Der StΓΌrmer? Regardless, that doesn't seem like a good reason to avoid listening to such a great project. Maybe don't give them money but you're missing out on some great music!

Another Dungeon Synth discussion hijacked by useless political opinions. Mortiis and Burzum both made openly racist comments during their DS era albums, get over it.

Saw them getting posted regularly for a bit. Really great tape. Strange how Lamentation has seemed to have little audible influence over a lot of modern artists. You don't hear the 'crypt piano' kind of sound all that often or even the dusty gothic influence, except the new Crypt of Carmilla project is the like the spiritual successor to Lamentation (finally).

Some people don't want to support nazis. Get over it. I think that's fine, I just don't know why you felt the need to post in this thread just to put your political opinions out there. You have nine posts on this board so I don't know why you felt compelled to be virtue signaling so intensely. We get it, genocide is bad. That's sort of a given in most basic systems of morality. You're not helping or educating anyone by bluntly shoving your nose into a conversation that doesn't even have anything to do with politics. This is why people think SJWs are a thing, because some people don't know when is an appropriate time to discuss politics online. It invalidates your viewpoint to not be able to exercise some self-restraint. Back to discussing actual music, I can't quite get into the Crypt of Carmilla project as much as other people seem to. I much prefer the original Lamentation myself. It is odd that there's not more piano-focused stuff out there...

Listening to the Whispers from Carmilla's Tomb now, I will say the piano focus does really create a different atmosphere from a lot of dungeon synth. It's less dungeon-esque but still has a very esoteric and potentially ancient feeling. More reminiscent of a candlelit room in a turret on a stormy night than the dungeons themselves, if that makes sense

Anyone know why they became Nachtkaiser before ending the project? If anyone was unaware, the put a compilation tape out of Fullmoon and Shadowkingdom under the name Nachtkaiser in 1998. They put Whispers from Carmilla's Tomb on a compilation in 1999 as well under that name. Interestingly, we all know them as Lamentation instead of Nachtkaiser, and their tape reissues were still under Lamentation. I'm guessing this is due to Asmodian Coven's tape rips getting popular. I do like the name Lamentation more than Nachtkaiser. The latter edges towards a more forgettable kind of German BM 'evil-compound-word' phrase band name. Lamentation is more succinct, more fitting.

It almost seems weird to think that a name that's just a normal English word would be the more memorable name but in this case I'd have to agree. I think "Lamentation" is also more fitting since it conveys this sort of sadness that I think the music possesses

I'm not in the market for it since I have all of the Lamentation releases, but there is one on there for a hefty $35 is anyone is interested.

I paid around $12 or so each (shipping included) for my Lamentation tapes, which seem to be becoming harder to find even with the reissues, so it might be worth it for someone to buy that Nachtkeiser tape if they wanted all the demos in one.
Lamentation is definitely the cooler of the two names though.
