I thoroughly enjoyed the pair and am anticipating returning to it again to digest further. A great series of scenes and atmospheres stuffed with charm and danger, looking forward to tapes.

While I must admit I'm not really into dungeon noise, there were many cuts from this release that got me. I absolutely loved the composition of Hambert's Theme / The Dreadful Task and Strangers on the Highway. I should listen to this more calmly once I'm home.
Nice work!

I thoroughly enjoyed the pair and am anticipating returning to it again to digest further. A great series of scenes and atmospheres stuffed with charm and danger, looking forward to tapes. Thank you! They took me a while to "digest" for sure - these albums are from a late-night session in August 2017 where I sat down with some wine in a state of insomnia to test out the new casio I'd just picked up at a flea market, and ended up trying to play out a dream from the night before. It took me a while to really get into what I'd made - but I kept returning again & again to poor Hambert's tale, so I'm very pleased to have finally gotten it published!
I am making tapes to be sold at Dungeon Siege MMXIX, but I'll make a special "forum" offer one I get them together While I must admit I'm not really into dungeon noise, there were many cuts from this release that got me. I absolutely loved the composition of Hambert's Theme / The Dreadful Task and Strangers on the Highway. I should listen to this more calmly once I'm home. Nice work! Thank you, too, Ropp! One of the reasons I released these as white-cover albums & not part of the AD 'Chapter' series is that deviation away from noise & the established ultrableak & brutal sounds of most my releases. Most tracks are still live & crusty: a Casiotone MT240 passed through analog delay, but there are a few (somewhat cleaner) multi-track recordings that might appeal to folks who aren't really into the Alder Deep crusty noise sound, my personal favorite is probably the reprise (part ii, track 1): Hambert's ThemeStrangers on the HighwayThe Faded Name of DonderogenousAle for a Hero (Reprise)A Funeral for No Body

THE TIME HAS COME. I might actually enjoy this more than Alder Deep. Both are stellar projects, but this really catches me. Looking forward to picking these tapes up from you at the siege this weekend.

Happy to have been able to pick this up from you at Siege. This one is a real grower, enjoying it more with each listen. Good to hear it's been growing on you! I feel the same way about Hambert - when I first recorded it, I thought I'd only made a somewhat silly diversion from my darker, noisier stuff, but I kept finding myself coming back to the recordings. It took me a long time to really appreciate the way it starts out a bit "corny" and over-eager, but then gradually decays into this odd, noisy, and dark soundscape. I now hear some much more sinister thread running throughout the tale & it really tells a story to me of someone seeking out an over-idealized goal and suffering great consequences from the reality of "guts & glory" type endeavors. Maybe its a bit weird to write a min-review of my own material, but I recorded this so long ago & in such a different mindset that it's almost like hearing music by someone else...

That definitely is the nice thing about letting things sit for awhile. Makes it hard to finish sometimes if they’re incomplete, but it does help you get a more objective view of things.

Wildemoeder ~ • ~ ﴾ ʘ ﴿ ~ • ~
~ • ~
a woman lives there out beyond the stone
spirit, creature, witch much older than any of us
she speaks of something deep beneath our world
traveler be wary few dare to seek
~ • ~ alderen.bandcamp.com/album/wildemoederThis is the second white-cover Alder Deep lore tape, slowly fleshing out the world around the Deep. This album centers around the semi-mythical figure of the Wildemoeder - the "woman of the wild" who leaves deep in the barren wilderness, devoted to remembering the ways of rivers and stones, the great tragedies of the world, and other such things none other bother or desire to remember.
Compiled from a few recordings made 2017-19.

Wildemoeder tapes are up! Lovingly handmade tapes with a fold-out j-card printed on recycled paper. 23 minutes per side.
