thekeeper, do you happen to know how to spell - link - anything on the MIDI-Chip Chart, Column 2 Row 3, probably Russian(?) , can you please provide more info since I can't find a way to spell it properly and obviously c/p ? Thanx a lot in advance It's spelled Brah-Me Puzz-Lou. Literally Ukrainian translation for "Puzzle Gate".

Anyone have things they want to see gathered into a chart? I've been hesitant to make new ones for a while since I think they kind of have this strange effect or generating archetypes once patterns and similarities are gathered under some descriptor or nano-genre name. I've thrown around 'idyllic synth' for years (also a thread in here), and it seems like a definite thing now. It's kool in some ways but I also don't want to make things real prescriptive. Anyway, I've considered making a 'tuff' chart that's the heavier and brass-centric muscley types of sounds. People took that term on already in BC tags, so I'm fine gathering those albums. What are your thoughts? Only thing I'm definitely not interested in doing is gathering albums that work with a certain explicit theme, like 'LOTR synth' since that does not have an actual sound on its own.

Don't know if this would work for you, but a "horror synth" chart perhaps? A bit self-explanatory, but a chart filled with artists that make DS that is unsettling, eerie and haunting.

What would you see as recent trends or micro-sub-genres in DS? Has anything new arrived since the last major push to create these charts? Maybe some things aren't established well enough or connected directly enough to actually gather them together into a chart but a list of these categories might be a starting place to evaluate the spread of the genre. Tuff certainly seems like a thing although incredibly tiny, a sort of Barbaric without any of the polish normally found there. Is horror an aspect of DS now? If you discount Vampyric projects I don't know if there is much there, though I'd love if there were - maybe some things are dark enough though. Cosmic might be an area. Dughpa, Obscure Transmissions, Immateriæ. Maybe there is room for some things that come from the dungeon but really fade more firmly into ambient. I can't think of a series of examples but there deserves to be more recent folk/neofolk tinged DS as well as martial DS out there too.

I'm back here to ask one question. Can you make a "Berlin School/Electronic DS" chart? Stuff like Til Det Bergens Skyggene, Old Sorcery, Dunjon Magik and so on not that easy, because DS and Berlin School comes from completely different backgrounds. So, we have to find out some artist or album which may be a "crossover" between the two genres. Nortfalke "Atmosfeer" or Grimrik "Mauer der nacht" could fit your request, for example. Also Silencio Permanente's "The short and foolish quest..." has some 70s German vibes. Just to make some self-promotion, also my side-project Il Generale Inverno "Ambient One" is somehow rooted in Tangerine Dream and Klaus Schulze's electronic world, but with a Burzum-ish feel at times. Could it be what you were looking for?

This includes projects like the aforementioned Immateriæ, Inwendt Faerte, Iamí.

Neptune towers.. any of the two. Paysage d'hiver die festung could be 2 of 4 corners for such a chart. Also Klockermans Tunguska from HDK could be a 3rd corner.
