I remember it from back in the day, while it's "alternative" in its approach, it's in my opinion a cult classic.. The orchestral version of Thus Spake the Nightspirit (a classic....) "Thus March the Nightspirit" while not up to par with the original version, is still as close as you can get to include it in an otherwise Dungeon Synth playlist.. Ah man you got me back many many years.. Edit : Also, just came late to the party and listened to the Hungurian Bal-Sagoth worship that is Runeshard. ( runeshard.bandcamp.com/releases Name Your Price - respect!) .. I will be honest that this mini album maybe sometimes worships TOO much Bal-Sagoth and is at the edge of plagiarism BUT, since no Bal-Sagoth has been released for soooo many years, since nothing else of a worship band had been even remotely succesful and last but not least since its quality is actually good, very enjoyable (the production seemed-felt kinda "buried" though... :/ ) , this is a definitely an album to check out for sure for everyone who misses Bal-Sagoth...

...have you got the same 2cd edition that I have? I mean the one with the Thorns demo on CD n.2.
PS. I LOVE the first Bal-Sagoth album!!!! And I remember some school mates introduced me Battle Magic back in the days, nice album as well!

I don't have it on original CD, I was given it back then and I straight copied it from 1 CD to be honest, on cassete/tape the good old way. So it was either a different version or I simply don't remember well at all.. I was obviously mostly on it for the Emperor songs, not Thorns I'm afraid, so I may even don't remember there was a second CD.. (Ah Bal-Sagoth are a big favorite of mine..In my top 10 for sure to get a grip ) Funny mate that I think they only album I do not absolutely adore is actually their first (A Black Moon Broods...). It had almost bad production and I still think that its a raw diamond but maybe I should give a chance to a recent remaster. I found out about them on the splash their second album made, "Starfire Burning" which is an absolute masterpiece really and made waves back then.. Again CD->tape as well as with Battle Magic which again is full of hymns and epic atmosphere, even better (how can that be?) than their previous epic classic album... Battle Magic actually was the summer soundtrack for a lot of fantasy reading I did on my home village ... From Power Cosmic and on I bought on CD all the rest of their discography ON RELEASE day (ok maybe 2-3 days later at most) and always was satisfied and much more than that!! Anyway I got carried away, tl;dr : I urge everyone into Epic (Black) Metal to give a listen to all their stuff.. All four ones (Starfire,Battle Magic, Power Cosmic, Atlantis Ascendant) are 100% pure masterpieces and a perfect soundtrack for any epic foray into books,RPGs or simply to bang your head !! Their last one Cthonic Chronicles is certainly good but not a must-listen so that's why I didn't mention it!! Stormcrow give a listen to the rest of their stuff please mate!! I BEG YOU!! p.s. Of course Runeshard I posted earlier are just (atm) a (goood) worship band (like the ones Running Wild have or Summoning etc) and I propose them to those who are fans of Bal-Sagoth, rest should first explore and be rewarded with the Epic experience Bal-Sagoth are...

I will do for sure! The only problem is that my listening queue is so long...and unfortunately I am one of those who still keep a CD in the car for weeks. Sometimes even months (yes, it happened!). I wish I had a turntable in the car as well

I wish I had a turntable in the car as well I refuse to drive a vehicle without a cassette deck. If that means I'm stuck driving a 1980 Ford Pinto, then so be it!

Good stuff indeed. Dungeonish at parts, also atmospheric without losing some of the old sharpness.
