My favorite way by far is to listen to it while driving. It's rainy and overcast a lot during the winter here, and makes for perfect atmosphere. Agreed

I listen to it over headphones late at night while usually studying or something. Of course when I record for my radio show I let the sound from the speakers fill the room though.

I Usually enjoy listening to DS before bed late at night Or early in the morning with headphones. Listening to some of my favourite albums out in the woods away from people is also nice too.

I seem to find myself mostly listening to it while reading or studying. It makes perfect background noise to keep me focused. But I usually listen to a release for the first time while on a walk or just sitting in my room to fully appreciate the music before listening to while occupied with something else.

Very interesting question and diverse answers.
For me it is quite random. I listen to dungeon synth on different occasions, when studying, when being outside, when working out. I rarely feel the need to listen to a specific type of music, because it would fit the current surrounding I am in.
However, a few weeks ago, I have been playing DnD, and we listened to some old Mortiis albums, and it was quite an awesome experience and atmosphere enhancer.

I do not really listen to anything else, but still, I don't like to treat DS as just an embellishment in the background. I do it only as a warm-up for later, proper listen. I love sharing the experience with my wife, who is a big fan of Erang, Fief, Mystiska Skogen, Ornatorpet etc. The best occasion is probably long car drives when we can get a bit deeper into discussions, especially when there's two hours of highway in front of us and the mind is relatively clear. Second best is when all the day's work is done and there's time to just lie on the bed and listen, best with a booklet, if there is any, or the storyline. Everything other than this is inferior for me.

At the start of Lockdown at the end of March here in the UK I walked each morning for a few miles down a rural country road before the sun had risen with the ground around me covered in frost. DS sounded particularly fine to me on this walks. Otherwise I am very fond of listening to DS in the dark although sadly I do end up getting distracted by other things whilst listening. That is nothing to do with the music and more an issue with me at the moment!

Right now, I usually put some dungeon synth on while I do some simple, repetitive task or when I start getting ready to go to bed. There's nothing that helps you drift off like an hour or two of good dungeon synth! How I like to listen to dungeon synth however, is usually to go out into the countryside with some headphones and switch between DS, various kinds of folk music and a little bit of drone or post-rock/metal. If I can't get out to the country, I love walking around the old parts of town. My current residence is a brisk walk away from a cathedral and several other beautiful, old buildings. One walk I remember fondly had me switching between Sunn O))))), Boris, a couple auto-plays from DSA and the Tuvan national anthem.

Dogwalks are my favorite time to dig into new albums, particularly now as the leaves are changing. It's a great way to ensure an hour or so of solitude to really bathe in the atmostphere.

When I play computer RPG's is when I usually listen to it. Sometimes when I'm listening to black metal, I'll throw in some dungeon synth for good measure.
On occasion when I'm reading a book it might fit nicely, but that hasn't been lately.

It depends on the experience I want.
I create DS playlists catered to almost any medieval or fantasy game I play, and that is a way to get into new artists.
If I listen at night, it is for true escape. Really to sink into it.
Some makes its way into dinner music with the family. Some I listen to while smoking a pipe on the porch.
Sex also, van be elevated by DS.
DS is life
