I've been playing through Dragon Quest I-VI (SNES versions w/ English Translations), and as much as I love the NES sounds, these symphonic suites of the OST are really magnificent to listen to. Anyone else a fan of this series? Its probably my favorite of all time. I stopped playing after VI pretty much, but absolutely love them up to that point. This is my all time favorite series as well. I think Dragon Warrior Monsters might be my favorite game, and the sound track is excellent. I've been meaning to get the symphonic suite DWM CD but it's like $30 and I have other priorities.. The new games are still pretty good. IX was excellent. Haven't gotten into the DQM Joker games. I have the VII remake on hiatus. Heroes is pretty good too, and Builders is way less popular now than it should be. There's a Japan only remake of DWM on 3ds that I pine for, too bad.

Thats good to know most of the games still hold up. I did used to have Rocket Slime for the DS and thought it was pretty fun and unique game. I am planning to get the Nintendo Switch and hoping that some of these DS only games are available on a virtual console or something so I can check out a lot of titles I have missed out on in the last many, many years

With the exception of the Ultima Underworld games, I've never played any real classic PC RPGS (i.e. anything that was released between after Zork and before Diablo). Someday, I'll just buy a bunch on Gog and spend a weekend doing it.
But, speaking of UU, talk about iconic soundtracks.

One of my favourites, and also free. www.uesp.net/wiki/Daggerfall:FilesThe DaggerfallSetup version clears up a lot of issues with the game, I'd recommend using that one.

Has anyone posted the various 8bit covers that have been upped through the years (and many removed ) on youtube? There are some really fitting known songs getting their 8bit treat : The Bard's Song : I always seem to mix this and other stuff (one nice one I can't find too was an 8bit cover for Dead Can Dance's - Cantara ) inside other Dungeon Synth in my Winamp playlist

When this came out on bootleg vinyl in 2015, and I had to get it. Mondo has since released legit albums of I, II & III.

Best game soundtrack of all time in my opinion. I'd buy this on vinyl!

Pretty sure i've posted this before on the FB page, but this is one of my all time favorite games and soundtracks..... The music creates such an atmosphere of mystery (and also triumph) that fits so perfectly with the game. Came to this thread specifically looking for this one. Absolutely amazing. Love the Uninvited soundtrack, too. And given the game's setting, it doesn't get any more "dungeon" than this. Anyway, I haven't seen these posted yet:
