Long time no upload. A lot has been going on in life so I took a little break from this channel among a few other things. It's not like it's that popular anyways, haha. Uploaded: www.youtube.com/watch?v=JzE5ygFaSP8"Moonlight Princess" - a track by some artist named Muzikweaver back in 1999. Add this person to the list of trackers that I don't have much info on. This track is has a very nice magical feel to it towards the 2nd half of the song, especially. The melodies flow and interweave with each other beautifully. It was interesting because about 50 seconds in, it sounded like it was going to go into something that would have reminded me of Wumpscut or something similar. Anyways, I hope everyone is well and thanks again for listening!

crystallogic13: Thanks again for the kind words and for listening to these tracks! Just uploaded 2 tracks!: www.youtube.com/watch?v=CMmh8tTKy4Q&t=114s "Land of Barbarians" - an epic as hell track from 1991 from French tracker Raphael Gusqua before launching himself a successful career in the gaming and TV/Film industries. This track is very interesting because it's an old mod file, back when they were only limited for 4 channels (as mentioned above in the "Crystal Rain" post). This song is an absolute treasure and should remind people of an older Arcade or SNES fantasy game. Another cool thing to note here is the samples used; they are all short loops, and you can hear the instrument loops here and there; almost reminiscent of Valor's samples in some ways. There's a lot of brass here too, so hopefully some DS fans would appreciate that. www.youtube.com/watch?v=w86b_Hk2PHE "The Misty Lake" - a track made in 2002 from Polish tracker Cooth, whom I don't know much about. There's some enjoyable tracks that Cooth had made.. this one I found the most enjoyable. Very relaxing and soothing. Fantasy-type atmospheric music. There's even a spoken-word part which is executed pretty well. Cheers.

Hello, January 2021 Updates: www.youtube.com/watch?v=rVU9yeXLsfU&t=407s"Corridor" by Smeghead, 1995. This is a long track; in the comments, the artist Smeghead said they were trying for a "nice orchestral tune." This track is quite epic, and has a nice electonic/industrial feel to it at times. The buildup at the end is wild. I believe I heard a sample from the movie Alien in there as well. I don't know the history behind Smeghead but I believe he was just a mid 90s tracker using ScreamTracker and primarily focused on electronic music. www.youtube.com/watch?v=0izpp_1slHQ"Ocean of Dark" by Sphenx, 2001. This is an amazing spacey ambient piece that may be enjoyed by those who like their celestial-type DS artists. This track uses 64 active channels, which is quite a bit for the style. The mixing is really good on this. Sphenx seems to have wrote a handful of tracks in various styles, but this one stood out the most to me. We are now at 15 songs uploaded. I am considering doing a compilation video of sorts for those who'd prefer to listen to one long video. Until next time.

Your channel is very original, I like that it's sort of some alternate lost DS from a very different scene. Makes me want to try recording in a tracker, seems like the best way to capture the 90's rpg spirit. "Land of Barbarians" is my fave so far. Keep it going!

yeah also never heard of this scene before but its WILD that this has been hiding so close to all my other interests (fantasy ambient, DOS RPGs, MUD's, early house). but finding out about it from your post/exploring how vast and legendary this scene is reminds me of when i first learned about dungeon synth, just another reason why i think DS folx would vibe with this.

listening to Ocean of Dark and thinking about how much coffee and cigarettes one would have to burn though to get through a project like that. the visual aspect of seeing how much work somebody poured into the tracks by watching the active channels fill up almost reminds me of graffiti culture, its an art but you got to be partly motivated by pushing the limits to show off to your peers.
(i haven't made a recording with more then 4 tracks in years..)

Thanks! I wasn't sure what to add. It's not like these songs have album covers or anything. Ended up using a picture of an abandoned mansion/castle over near here in New Hampshire, and then having the tracks play on a late 90s PC in the foreground. The VHS effect is corny but it kind of makes it more interesting. Thanks again.

Update: I have a lot of tracks ready to upload for the next collection. Same kind of deal: some are fantasy-themed songs, others are Orchestral-inspired, while some are a little more geared towards electronic and Berlin School influence. As always, these tracks were mostly created in the 90s or early 00s.
Ideally I want to make the videos a little more appealing to those not familiar with this stuff. Having the video of the tracked file being played is bare-bones but it's the simplest way to show the music and also the note and sample placement the artists used.
Expect more uploads soon. Thanks.

Hi Folks. Been a while since I've uploaded a new (old) track!
Church of Selene - Nocturnal Memories
Year: 2000 Country: Sweden
This track is actually part 2 of a 3 part series of songs. Church of Selene had been doing fantasy/new age-type tracked music from the years 1997-2007 and released numerous tracks. Their most "successful" track was #1 on MP3.com's Medieval Chart at one point in 1999-2000. That track, can be heard here on their Youtube page. (remember MP3.com, anyone?)
The Nocturnal Memories track that I uploaded always stood out to me because of the melodies and progressions. Some good stuff, here. Hope you enjoy. More to follow soon.

Greetings to all as we enter this beloved fall season. Lo and behold - a new track uploaded to this YouTube Channel:
"Land of Whispers" - by Eterman, a Finnish composer & tracker. The info part of the file has a boatload of text, some of which I broke the norm for this channel and had some of it visible during the video. Anyway, he comments on how it was composed in 1995 and then tracked 1997-98. This tells me he composes the music outside of the tracker, then transcribes it to the tracker? That would be crazy if that's the case. A very complex, bouncy, fantasy-themed song with lots of moving parts. Not dungeon synth in the slightest, yet somewhere close by, perhaps in another world of fantasy. Until next time.
Cheers
