For some years I've kept an image blog that attempts to capture/catalog the aesthetics and visual language unique to scientific/technical communication (modern & historical): data-and-vision.tumblr.com/Haven't kept up with it so much lately, since tumblr's sort of dying & the userbase has grown more...monolithic, but there are several thousand posts on there. I've been wanting to move this "collection" to some better format or hosting site, but I'm not really sure which or how... There's a " favorites" tag and an " illustration" tag that might be of interest.

Hello everyone, I'm new to the forum, and thought this thread might be suited best as fitst post.
As is the case with most people here, my hobbies include music (I play drums and classical guitar and love to learn about Renaissance era music) and fantasy (mostly reading). Besides that, I enjoy weightlifting, and astronomy (I am currently writing my Bachelor thesis to get a BSc degree)

I really like that logo, sternenfeuer Sorry, i haven't been here for quite some time. Too busy with all-day life shit happening. But finally all works out quite well and I hope to be here again more frequently. Long story short: Thanks for that, dungeonsnake

This year, I decided to get into cosplay. My first costume was Snake, from Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater. I attended several conventions and had a blast, here's some photos: In the future, I plan to also do cosplays as Snake from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker and Metal Gear Solid 5. Luckily his costume doesn't change that much in many ways, so it's mostly just a matter of adding and altering some components.

I'm a huge fan of MGS myself. I cosplayed a little in high school but never was able to get super serious about it. I'm hoping to get back into it in the future and do some cool ones.

This is maybe the best Solid Snake cosplay I've ever seen. I don't know how many I've seen exactly, but it's still at the top, haha.

New to the forum, here. Aside from making and listening to music and hosting/going to shows, I enjoy fishing, fly-fishing*, hiking*, kayaking, geocaching*, and looking at freshwater plants.
*denotes that I haven’t done it seriously in a long time.
I also have some interest in making live music visuals; I did this for my set at NEDS 2019 but I’d like to explore it a bit more.
Edit: Also Scuba Diving

A lot of my hobbies and interests are somewhat passive, in that I'm not creative however I very much enjoy the following: -
Reading: Mostly fiction, I enjoy sci fi and fantasy but also plenty of other stuff. I'm rather fond of writers like Jack Kerouac, William Burroughs, Charles Bukowski, Kurt Vonnegut and lots of other stuff. I really enjoy comics too, Alan Moore is one of my all time favourite writers,
Music: Loads and loads of it. Dungeon Synth as a genre is new to me although obviously I am familiar with it through instrumentals/intros from Black Metal albums etc. I love metal and Prog Rock but loads of other things too
Films: Old horror/exploitation is what I dig most but love loads of other things too
Dr Who: I don't enjoy the rebooted series bar the odd episode but classic Who is what I love (1963 - 1989) and I have also been really getting into the audio dramas done by Big Finish Productions.
Yoyo: I love playing yoyo, it is something I am actually good at (well I am pleased with my progress anyway)
I play various board games as well and older computer games. Walking is great also!

What's the best yoyo I can get for $10 or less? I had a Fireball when I was a kid that was super kool. Broke it on a tree one day...

To be honest I would just go with something cheao like a Duncan Butterfly to see whether it is something you will enjoy. If it turns out you do enjoy it and want to get something a little more modern and capable, if you double your budget I would highly recommend the Recess First Base, it seems to be agreed by the community that it is the ultimate starter yoyo, plus comes with two bearings so you can play it either responsive or unresponsive.
I hope that helps?

Hobbies .... I play drums and guitar amateurishly , also with other people. Regularly play pen and paper RPGs and go to concerts as often as I can. I am also interested in art and somehow try to live my life creatively. For example, I paint pictures like this stuff: I also do photography sometimes or make small films ... I like trying different things. And I regularly go hiking in nature ... I also like to go to galleries and museums ... and watch tons of horror films... and play retro games, mostly on the Gameboy... I am very unsure about the English language. I hope not too many mistakes have crept in.

My most important hobby is game development (on an amateurish level). You can find my longtime project "RogueBox Adventures" on itch.io.It is an roguelike/rpg with some sandbox elements. Also, its free and open source... So I would be happy if you try it out (if its your kind of thing of course ). Besides that I like to read (or listening to audio books) like many other people here. Mostly I read Fantasy and SF but I also try to read some classics from time to time. Furthermore I play Hnefatafl (viking chess) over agenielsen.dk but I'm not very good at it.
If my time allows I also love to be outside, doing some gardening or just enjoy nature.
