Oh this is so good! Love the prompt. I've been looking forward to your post.
I absolutely will have time to work on it during Christmas break. I look forward to joining you in this again.
I do still have that other song I made for the previous one in my back pocket, and want to finish the other 3 tracks, but I have it far on the back burner for now. I'm also working on a holiday album but I hope to have that finished and off for mixing by next week.
Now, the real question: does it have to be written for piano as if played by a normal number of human hands? <grin>

Hooray! Glad to hear RangerRick!
The intention of the prompt is that you just use traditional piano sounds as a foundation. You can put them in a sampler, you can distort them, you can warp them, and find other ways to play inhumanly. But start with traditional acoustic piano sounds - these can be from any source of your choosing: softsynth, sampler, mic'ing an actual piano, etc. Please no electric piano, organ, wurli, or things like that.
Also feel free to use effects and ambient, field-recording style sounds for background if you desire.

Regardless of the author's inebriation, the missive seems sound. Looking forward to completing this Dungeon Rush challenge!

Wow that sounds super cool so far! This is probably the most limiting prompt yet so Im excited to see how different artist will bring their own sound to the challenge. I find these prompts so motivating as well which is a big reason why I keep doing these. Cheers and happy holidays all.

P.S. I should clarify you do not need to write your prose/poetry excerpt yourself (although you can if you like) - feel free to excerpt something from a famous or published work, etc.

Yeah, despite it being super limiting, there's so much you can do with effects and other tinkering that I'm not feeling terribly limited, I'm just ending up with something that feels a lot like my other Winter Synth challenge album. Which, honestly, is a feature, not a bug.
Tomorrow's a travel day but I hope to be at it again after that.

It's limiting but very inspiring, I've found it has led me in a narratively interesting direction I never would've come up with on my own.

Another track done, thought I might do a cover. Adapting the guitar and such from Funeral for Erang actually worked pretty well!

Please bear in mind the deadline is for composition but you can mix/master for as long as you like and "submit" or post work later. The reasoning for this is that the mixing process should be kept as a separate creative process and we don't feel people should be pushed to release something that they are not happy with the mix etc.
