A band I think that did a really fantastic job of mixing industrial music with more medieval aesthetics is MZ.412 This album is one of my all time favorites. "Burning The Temple of God" also is total black metal aesthetics.

If you actually listen to the first few minutes of the video I posted for Agamemnon by vomir&trou it has a medieval sound independent of the visual appearance. There's like monk chanting and stuff like that. I feel like by adding visual and audio elements like this to your harsh noise, it can perfectly evoke a dungeon atmosphere. Harsh noise is audial viscerality and when applied artistically it can imbue anything with a raw energy otherwise absent. For me I love it in my dungeon synth because it brings it all alive for me. But that's just me.
I do like Mz.412, especially "Burning the Temple of God"!

Also, one final and I think important point is what goes into creating the music. Noise is essentially made with a bunch of over-driven effects pedals, contact mics, feedback loops on mixers, mono-synths, etc. Not things that make you think of dungeons and fantasy landscapes when playing them. It's a very post-modern form of music. The instruments and sounds used to make dungeon synth are inherently nostalgic and "old" feeling. The melodies and song structures are in a way neo-classical. Everything about it fits like a glove with the aesthetics. Also I feel like you're about as liable to find mixers and effects pedals in a dungeon as you are MIDI controllers and laptops with DAWs and VSTs, just sayin

We're splitting hairs now! If you think noise is a good medium to create a dungeon atmosphere, great! It is music after all, and music is subjective.

Hello, I'm completely new here and haven't even started my profile yet, but I've been reading this thread and wow, so much great music! I've been making music that I consider dark ambient / noise / something or other for a while now, and I'm quickly getting obsessed with dungeon synth and dungeon noise. As usual with me, I accidentally invented the genre myself (without having a name for it) and then discovered other people were doing it. Not so much the dungeony part yet, but I'm getting there - too many ideas, not enough time - I've actually recently put out my first album, I'd love if you guys could look it over, see what you think. I stress, it's not really dungeon synth level yet, more dark ambient and noise, but I'm trying to figure out how to get more dungeon elements in. By the way: I absolutely adore the Einhorn album I've heard yet, I think it was called the Tyrant's Tower? I'm looking forward to listening to more like that - and I have heard just a little Ranseur and loved it - and that S. Pakhomov album was BEAUTIFUL, very inspiring - this is all so new to me though that I don't have much more experience beyond that, I'm listening at a breakneck pace right now trying to absorb all this inspiring material! Oh here's my page, with my album. So far the only one I've made - I'm working on more. Please enjoy! unelema.bandcamp.com/releases

Unelema is good. I am listening to the first track and it sounds woody, organic and real. At first, after I read the description and tags, I thougt this would be just another snake cult but it sounds just like I think this music should sound like. Sounds like deep north hasch-noise (not harsh) that I used to enjoy laying about in the grass by the scandinavian Ume river flowing from the fjälls to the sea. Good job. Nature electronics at it best

Thank you very much olofdigre, I actually have never heard before multiple of the terms you used to describe my music so now I have to do some research. I actually just make all my music by trial and error, using my intuition and just mixing up sounds until it feels right. I have no particular inspirations because I have never really listened to music of the sort that I make. So it's wonderful to me that I'm unconsciously channeling something you enjoy!

I made a new Pagoda Mast ep featuring a lot of keyboards, vocals, and noise. It's not really dungeon related but I figured it might be appealing/appropriate here due to the keyboards+noise combo + black metal influenced vocal style pagodamast.bandcamp.com/album/suburbia-part-i

Man, I think that'd be great. I've been craving more Einhorn lately tbh. I'm actually almost done with a little release that should be out within the next day or two so stay tuned! I feel like I could very easily be criticized for being "too prolific" and putting out too much material too quickly but the fact of the matter is that my ideas are all fairly simple and don't take a long amount of time to execute so it's not for lack of any effort or anything...I just have an idea and then do it and that's that I suppose haha so if you want to criticize me for anything then let it be the simplicity. Anyway keep an eye on my thread over in Chambers and I will deliver in not too long! Yeah man, that's the way. Sometimes i writte my music like this: have an idea, and almost always writte the melody (when i writte black metal) with ds its different, but this time, with my ds proyect im trying with other styles and make some minimal sound. music is more special when no have limits PD: every proyect posted in this thread is awesome. Nice to see people make music like this for passion.
