I agree, I find Bloodborne much harder. I love the Souls series but I found Bloodborne very difficult to master. The lack of shields makes it much twitchier, it's like playing exclusively as an assassin-type character in one of the Dark Souls games.

hehe, is this a hopefully question for our best ever RPGs ? I'd be happy to post either way Not very surprisingly my list would be : 1. Planescape Torment : a dark masterpiece, its simply digital art in my eyes. So profound experience. 2. Baldur's Gate II+Throne of Bhaal : (of course you need to go through BG1 but Bg2 and the expansion are where all the meat is at!!) . It's up there almost next to Planescape for me. 3. Ultima Underworld 1 : I played it endless hours upon hours back in the day,( and in a monochrome monitor although VGA graphics ) and I would just wander around as a real simulation, summoning monsters fighting them, looting stuff and keeping them in certain rooms, vast collections of weapons and loot in various floors.. Huge experience and imagine it back in the day!! 4. Neverwinter Nights 1 + Both expansions + modules etc. = So many great stories, endless hours, builds, fun. A great game.. 5. Deus Ex : the first one. Which has a completely masterful soundtrack and in MY book is and RPG if I had to put a tag on it. So much real so much prophetic.. As someone said when it was released in 2000, "I wait for VR next"...

Well anything on any platform that by your personal standards is considered RPGs would be a welcome recommendation mate, bring em on!! Personally the best console RPG experience I had was with Jade Empire on the original xbox, a great mix of action, rpg, great China (or Japan? don't remember..) atmosphere and a great game overall.. Later a special edition was on PC too.. But for example compared to the above 5 games I ranked, while great on its own and huge enjoyment, it is not up with them . Bring some suggestions on for some console ones..

I reinstalled Gothic 2 , which is one of the best RPG's ever ( Gothic 3 being probably THE best ever) I'm a die-hard Piranha Bytes fan since Gothic 1 was released. Gothic 2 is probably my favorite of the series, the most atmospheric game ever. Have you played ELEX yet? That's the most recent Piranha Bytes game. I bought it awhile ago, but I haven't had the time to really dive in yet. I played for a few hours and it seems like it definitely provides the powerful immersion and atmosphere that I've come to expect from these guys (I'm a big fan of the Risen series as well).

I had many different module projects over the years and really got good with the toolset, but unfortunately I never finished anything.

No, I haven't tried ELEX yet, my computer's probably unable to run it, haha. And anyway I strongly dislike " very realistic " graphics and prefer old school RPG, isometric for instance. With a big exception for Morrowind and the Gothic serie. I didn't like Risen, because of the carribean setting, which is not my cup of tea. As for my fave list, mmmmm... Morrowind Planescape Torment Gothic 2 & 3 Ultima 7 Darklands Neverwinter nights Daggerfall Pathologic Fallout 1 & 2 Vampire : Bloodlines Arcanum (which is more than 10 games, too bad)

I'm currently finishing Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. Once I got a steam controller config set up I was able to get into it a lot more easily.

The learning curve is steep, the controls are clunky and the combat is clumsy... but bear with it, and you'll find what are probably the best crpg's ever. The two first in particular; the third ain't bad, but it's not as good. Also, since you got them on GoG: make sure to d/l the soundtracks as well. They're stunning!

I gave Elex maybe 20-25 hours as soon as it was released. Could not get into it. What mostly annoyed me was that there's no joy in exploration, because even on normal difficulty most foes will just butcher you until you're like level 20 or something. It's not like in the Gothics, where you could explore significant parts of the world from the go but not everything. In Elex, you just run for your life. Also, I felt the setting just didn't really work. But I'll return to it one day and give it another chance. For old times sake.

Currently playing and having fun with some Serious Sam(the Steam Fusion edition which contains mostly all of the up to 3 Serious Sam) and Brutal Doom this week, always not minding the mindless fun.. On Serious Sam I play clear but on Brutal Doom i feel no remorse no regrets for using good old iddqd cheat and stuff I recommend this (totally free stand alone) campaing for all good old Doom 1/2 fans I love Serious Sam and Brutal Doom. Old school FPS games rank high on my list of favorite game genres.
