So if you guys ever ewant to retreat from the dungeon you can just say "Leave dungeon and Ill just calculate how many wandering monster checks you need to get through to get out. Assume that checks happen every thirdish turn and you have a 1/6 chance of encountering one on the first level and 2/6 chance on the second level. To make it more believable, I would do it around the time when probable and at an area that is more appropriate like a turned corner or a new room. It doesn't make much sense if you are going down a long hallway and then have to do a check in the middle of it.
Remember you have a shit ton of valuables in your possession which can be sold and new equipment can be bought. Plus you could hire more hirelings to come and fight with you OR you can wander around in the gloom three people with low HP and really kick the shit out of this dungeon by yourselves.

Good idea. Now that we've found the stairs. Its such a different gaming experience having no idea what im doing and feeling how fragile my character is. Not like in Pathfinder or 5e where we blast through deadly encounters every session

Yeah, OD&D is a real gut check if you've never experienced a game like it before. Personally, I find it much more satisfying to play. I started with 3rd edition (although i actually had some second edition books but was too young to really play), but it changed my world when I discovered old school D&D. I'm a player in a 5th edition game currently, but my heart lies with the old school

Yay, level 2. I'm kind of confused about something. I made Jurlis using the random character generator, and he's multi-class apparently because it said he is a "Fighting-Man/Magic-User." But I don't understand how he could be multi-class at level 1? And so I don't know what to roll for his new hp, or how to level up in general. Is there any way I can just switch to pure Magic-User?

So actually being cross class gets the benefit of both. You had to wait will your magic user side hit a certain threshold to level up but your Hit dice is a D6 instead of a d4 so now you get all the benefits of a second level magic user www.d20swsrd.com/for-players/characters/classes/magic-user/plus you get to roll a d6 instead of a d4 for new hit points. Also this maybe you after your gambling roll

Haha, yeah, just shock. He's been through this too many times to fall into despair though (plus he's still got a lot of gold left).
Ok, cool, so I get two first-level spells per day now? That's nice because I wanted to experiment with other stuff than just Sleep, but I wanted to always keep that on-hand seeing how useful it was on the bees.
Let's hope my HP roll is not so terrible as the gambling roll.

I'm still annoyed that I'm a lvl 2 fighter with only 3 hp. Damn rolls haha your AC is curretnly 16. You can pick up a sheild and go up to 17 which is still pretty good. You could hire an army to make a shield wall around you like Spartans.
