Oscilloscopes are neat. It'd be cool to see this kind of visual treatment for some the more raw/chiptuney DS projects.

There are oscilloscope vst plugins. It basically allows you to see what happens to the sound visually as you manipulate the patch. I'll admit I'm too dumb to get much use out of it, but it's still fun. www.meldaproduction.com/MOscilloscope

Back then while i am writing the melodies for Path of a tongueless knight i listened this OST back and forth multiple times a day. The whole Souls Series has awesome music, but in my opinion, this one has the best Dungeon Vibes.

I've never seen this movie or know anything about it except the soundtrack. Japanese atmospheric synth instrumental, sometimes with chanting/percussion. Like listening to a quest. Would recommend to fans of, I don't know...maybe Chaucerian Myth? Interesting structure.
My favorite japanese soundtrack has got to be the classic:
This one had such an effect on me

I have seen it maybe 4-5 times since I first watched it at age 14, and the story is really deep, tone and atmosphere very paranoid and apocalyptic. The OST is based on some Japanese and Indonesian traditional music, from the former a style of a Buddhist chanting and the long segment of Japanese Noh drama in Illusion, and a bunch of influences from Gamelan and Kecak music. All combined with synth and prog rock. Wild. The group that made this have two other similar albums that are considered part of a conceptual trilogy with this soundtrack. Ecophony Rinne and Ecophony Gaia. You won't find them on YouTube as the company that owns the copyrights auto-flags it every time its been uploaded.

Oh, the first video I tried to post was missing - from something called "Wings of Honneamise." That's the one I haven't seen. Akira is an amazing work of uncomfortable art. I've heard parts of the other two albums, but didn't realize they were a trilogy of sorts! Listening again, the link is obvious:

I've heard parts of the other two albums, Whoa. Forgot about that one. Of course I first watched it because it was one of the only anime carried by the video store I used to go to. Haven't thought about it in years, but I think I was too young when I saw it to make sense of the kind of political/social themes. The soundtrack was apparently mostly written by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

Big fan of the Hyper Light Drifter soundtrack by Disasterpeace. The game is great as well. Lots of dungeon synth-ish stuff going on. music.disasterpeace.com/album/hyper-light-drifterAlso Turrican. Just got the four volume OST anthology. Chris Hulsbeck is brilliant.

Kind of a dungeon-esque soundtrack at times, it seems to be based on traditional organ music.

a classic from my youth... sounds pretty good at 0.75 speed too. hell yeah, thanks for posting this. i really love this soundtrack and it's extremely dungeon synth-y to me. in fact, this soundtrack was one of the first things i thought of when i first heard dungeon synth, it reminds me of Gothmog in particular.

The gameplay might not be as refined as the later titles, but I mostly play those games for the atmosphere and I think Demon's Souls did it the best. On the other hand, DSIII was really good in that regard as well - the Ps4's graphics allowed the environments to become more fully realized in a way that PS3 could not.

I've discovered recently the Rusty Lake games series, and I really dig their soundtracks, all made by the same guy victorbutzelaar.bandcamp.com/« Agar » seems to be a personnal release and it's one of my favourites. Warm, quiet ambient with some neoclassical moments. The Rusty Lake games are worth a try, too - for puzzles and weird atmospheres lovers.
