I'm big fan of Legend ! The version with the Tangerine Dream Soundtrack is really fascinating ! Lot of my friends don't appreciate this movie like me, but I totally understand, because I saw a Dungeon Synth univers in this film !

Watched The Green Knight tonight and loved it. Spectacular cinematography, deeply symbolic and thematic, creative directing, and set at a very deliberate pace. Very DS, quite KVLT.

(I don't think we have a general movie thread in the forum, so excuse me for the kinda off topic:)
Watched yesterday DnD Honor Among Thieves, and it was a general mess... I remembered seeing the trailer months ago and immediately thinking that the art/aesthetics/etc of the movie feeled WAY off.. But I wanted to check the actual movie and saw it has a good score on IMDB(which seems to be irrelevant in recent years..) so I fired it up yesterday.. And it was WORSE than expected. The aesthetics were (off) as expected, but this movie suffers on so many fronts.. I dunno which was the target group for this (newer generations??) but this screams that it was build like a superheroes mass production action movie aimed at lower ages... No blood at all, CHEAP and failed humor at every second turn breaking any immersion, cheap endless dnd hooks that instead of satisfying and giving you an "oh yeah here's xyz monster/scenario/familiar tabletop scene" it gives you the feeling that they tried to cram as match as they could just for the sake of it.. The script is so typical and cliche but most of all the total of all these is a total drag, you really want to just speed up playback speed and end the torment as earlier as it gets.. Especially the first hour of the movie is almost a chore.. Second half kinda picks up speed but still all the problems, even the "animation" or whatever it's called today and all effects feel like they are 90s compared to anything after 2000...
Stay away from this shit.

I will come in here to slightly defend the new DnD movie! XD Does it lack in immersion and deeper story-telling, 100% Is it a visual masterpiece, absolutely not! Is the script predictable, you bet it is! Is it goofy.... yes this movie is goofy to all hell. If you enjoy movies where semi-serious dialogue is broken with a fart joke, this is for you!! I actually had a fun time watching this movie; the fat dragon was honestly funny. Though I also came into it with low expectations and assuming it would just be a comedy. Yet I do have to agree, it would have been nice to receive a film that actually took itself serious (furthermore- should we create a thread for films in general? I don't want to dilute/draw away the convo from the KVLT here! )

However the people that have told me about it have been split in their opinions as well -- half seem to love it and half seem to hate it)

Hehe angbandslasthero , I think i get what you mean, certainly this is a movie that with some pizza, beer and good company may give some good times+ but to be honest there are countless movies that are ok-ish to just watch if you don't have anything better to do and they won't give a BAD bad time.. But honestly while i might sound harsh, I really couldn't stand the grade E humor (as you put it, feels more like toilet-level humor insert than anything else) nor the visuals not really many things I found even at least "ok", I really felt like doing a chore and especially the first hour, not that it gets much better anyway .. But as Texas Dungeon Synth said seems crowds are split on this one, at least people might be cautious as to select a fitting moment to watch it(=higher tolerance to something that you don't like/disappoints/is boring).. Indeed maybe we could use another thread for some general movie talk but since it's DnD I thought i'd throw it here Regards all!!

crystallogic13 , absolutely that! I don't think I'd rewatch the DnD movie anytime soon. It's one of those see it once and meh maybe in another ten years films. I'd rather rewatch Cocaine Bear sooner, which was incredibly stupid but entertaining if you enjoy just the dumbest gore XD Texas Dungeon Synth , I recall seeing the trailers for The Green Knight and thinking it looked beautiful; I regret not seeing it in theatres. I had it bookmarked as a film to watch and honestly forgot about it, so thank you for reminding me it exists. Plan on watching it this weekend

Haha yeah angbandslasthero I also like sometimes the pizza and just see a movie for fun/casual watch, it's very relaxing and needed from time to time I will continue to half-hijack the thread but if any admin wants he could split it in two threads, for my FAILED attempt to se a movie yesterday .. : Metal Lords.. Damn, what shit was that ? Not even for pizza and beer. Ok. I only lasted 15-17 minutes into, not much , but I failed as I confessed.. BUT was this movie NOT what I was expecting, I entered it blind but with mind it had good reviews if I remembered well.. And in the first seconds of the movie the metal imagery of posters etc kinda say inside of you "YEAH THIS IS IT MAN, THE METAL MOVIE I WANTED TO SEE, FUCK YEAH" and in like 10 minutes in you are in for the worst surprise , a depiction that a metalhead is a modern I guess american high school tiny minority who gets bullied, then instead of standing up acts like a jerk to some other young musicians and in general you get a huge like WHAT THE FUCK face trying to understand if this is (could be though but still..) a modern depiction or imagery or just plain bullshit or whatever, but more importantly WHAT THE FUCK THIS MOVIE HAS TO DO WITH REAL HEAVY METAL , yes the one WE LIVED in the 80s,90s,2000s and actually still live even to this day (gree metal scene might not be AT ALL what it used to be, but in the 30+ ages we are still , as long as we live, still here and always rebellious Sorry for the rant, I got kinda carried away Still Metal Lords is in a short list of movies i dropped and didn't even stand to watch with fast forward (thanx VHS oops, VLC I wanted to type ) p.s. Nothing better waking up, smoking my joint and reading this forum, Reddit is about to get nuked itself, social media do not work well for retention so hopefully people will get back in forums like back in the day and say a big f you to huge corporate media platforms... Hopefully, just hopefully

crystallogic13 Omg no I had to pause and stop multiple times while watching Metal Lords because I cringed so hard. I somehow made it through the entire film? It wasn't the best. I'm going to add that Heavy Trip is also cringey XD I haven't seen Lords of Chaos yet but heard maaaaany mixed reviews on that as well.

Never heard of Metalhead (or Heavy Trip), certainly will check them out, thanx for the recs ppl!!! angbandslasthero I watched Lords of Chaos a little bit after it was out and despite the mixed reviews and the discussion of how it may need some more respect to (the) Dead, it was good and well worthwhile (I also read the old relevant book which is heavily criticized and obviously already knew how things play out, still had a good time waching it, totally recommended).. While on the other hand I never got to continue watching that abomination that was Metal Lords, funny thing I really thought I might like that one or it was a serious offer but cringe as you put it is even not enough how to describe that mess

hadstur , thanks for the rec! I never heard of that film before! crystallogic13 , hmm alright I will have to check out Lords of Chaos as well then! As for Heavy Trip, I'd like to add it might be easier to watch than Metal Lords as it definitely takes itself less serious; even though Metal Lords is also classified as a comedy. Though as I warned prior, you will cringe at parts ;D Best advice, come into it expecting that to happen lol

I believe this trve kvlt flick has not been mentioned yet! One of the dungeon-synthiest movies I can think of. The whole franchise is an honorable mention, but AoD really fits this topic.
