There's already a thread for books, but I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for dungeon-esque films. Which motion pictures, if any, best capture the dark medieval feeling and aesthetic?

Excalibur (1981) for sure.

I'd go with anything in the sword & sorcery genre. Of course, Conan the Barbarian -- the soundtrack to that movie is worth it alone and has inspired a TON of dungeon synth. But just the genre in general -- Deathstalker, Conquest, Beastmaster, Fire and Ice, etc. Not saying all of those are particularly GOOD movies, but damn it do I love them anyways, Fire and Ice in particular.
Also, because SOMEONE else will surely say it, of course, Peter Jackson's Lord of the Rings trilogy. Yeah, The Hobbit movies kind of sucked, but they do nothing to tarnish the original trilogy.

All of these you guys mentioned I recon are unreal - some others I can think of are The Sword and the Sorcerer, Krull, Yor the Hunter from the Future plus I really like the old lord of the rings 'cartoon' movie

This isn't particularly kvlt or "dungeon-esque," but I've been rewatching Game of Thrones lately. What a great show. I wish I would have read the books beforehand.

Or if you want the ultra classic fantasy movies, look for Labyrinth, The Dark Crystal, Neverending Stories and Legend. Most of those films have a 'throw glitters on everything aesthetic' which I totally agree on.
